Great one and a very good cast. Nick Adams, Kumi Mizuno, Tadao Takashima and Yoshio Tsuchiya. Very good soundtrack, too. Everytime I watch this movie, I have to decide what version I choose. US-Version ending is good and maybe the better one for western audiences. Japanese ending is not satisfying in my opinion, but also dramatic and sad.

As far as I know he had 2 movie roles and is still alive.

What about the Japanese version without the Giant Octopus in it? What did you think of that one? That one was the same as the American version, I believe.

While the octopus ending does make a nice connection with WoTG, it does feel like just another kaiju/fight tacked onto the end of the movie. Frank falling into the collapsing earth is the better ending IMO.

I LOVE this film. Nick Adams and Kumi Mizuno are a duo I always enjoy and Baragon is really fun in this movie. I also just love the idea of something mutated, some uncanny human-like creature going toe to toe with a primordial reptilian monster.

I think the film also manages to accomplish something that otherwise might be impossible. It perfectly balances a rather serious issue (Hiroshima/Atomic Orphans and the shame they face by society) with over the top giant monster action.

FCTW is the next film I want to rewatch. On the off chance a 4K release gets announced on Sunday (Gfes event), I'll put it off.

This movie i fell asleep watching because I watched it at like 3am when I hadn't slept in days but when I rewatched it I really like the movie I thought it was a great movie as the plot was well made but I didn't care much for Frankenstein. I just watched the film for baragon because I saw him in destroy all monsters. the monster designs did look good as well and over all I actually liked the film

Thinking festively, does anyone consider this a fun Halloween time movie? It might seem like a strange idea since it's not really a horror movie but Frankenstein or Frankenstein monsters are a Halloween staple. Alot of years even I get burned out of horror and something like this is a good thing to add variety to your ghoulish movie marathons.

It also does well at Halloween parties in my experience!

I feel it works any time, but the fact that the humanoid is Frankenstein is connection enough to make it a good Halloween offering. You might also consider Gamera vs Gyaos as well since Gyaos is based on Dracula.

I consider it. A couple of friends and me intended it to be the finale for our Halloween party last year, but we had to end it early, and meant to follow through this year, and they both got busy again, so... um, hopefully November. But it has left it a Halloween movie in my eyes.

Honestly, the version I'd like to see someone cobble together is one that re-integrates the US-only "extra violent" scenes with the Giant Octopus ending. Kind of imagining an "ultimate American version" as originally envisioned.
