The Polygon trilogy, SP and Gemstone shorts were not done in-house by Toho themselves. I am only referring to mainline live-action films from 1999-present. Technically they don't count as much.Vakanai wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 1:20 pmTrue...but I feel dirty counting the Polygon trilogy.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 12:15 amThis isn’t even trueVakanai wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 8:25 pm
Almost non-stop? When? When was this non-stop string of one-shot films? You mean between 2001 to 2004, then nothing for 12 years until 2016, then nothing again for 7 years until Minus One?
We haven't had 25 five years of one shots. We had 4 years of one shots, then nothing for well over a decade, then almost another decade until another movie.![]()
The Kiryu Saga was a sequel, and there was the Planet of the Monsters Trilogy. Ironically, the Reiwa era has produced a trilogy of films with the HARDEST continuity between them that’s ever existed.![]()
But you're right. It hasn't been all one-shots - Kiryu duology, anime trilogy, full season of SP, the Gemstone shorts continuity, the live action shorts continuity. Nevermind the ongoing MV...we're not lacking in continuity, yet some fans won't be satisfied until every Toho Godzilla movie is in one large continuity again.
Besides, could a potential sequel to Shin Ultraman potentially serve as retelling of Return of Ultraman? And could the same apply for Shin Kamen Rider by bringing in V3 in a potential sequel?
