Godzilla the Ride: Great Clash

Godzilla the Ride: Great Clash to open at Seibuen Amusement Park this August

Get ready for an ocean battle between Godzilla and an all-new, Takashi Yamazaki-designed Mechagodzilla on August 1 when GODZILLA THE RIDE: GREAT CLASH opens at Japan's Seibuen Amusement Park.

Created by Yamazaki, the director and Academy Award®–winner of Best Visual Effects for Godzilla Minus One, along with the GMO production team and Shirogumi Inc., GODZILLA THE RIDE: GREAT CLASH will thrust the King of the Monsters into a sea confrontation with the debuting "KIJU type 0‐G BREAKER‐" Mechagodzilla.

GODZILLA THE RIDE: GREAT CLASH will cast attendees as "Godzilla surveillance crew members" aboard the Goose Nest, the flagship vessel of the Emergency Defense against Gargantuan Encounter (EDGE) team, which houses the KIJU type 0‐G BREAKER‐. During the approximately 15-minute splash ride, attendees will embark on a mission to locate and engage Godzilla on the Goose Nest's advanced "GOOSE" drone ship capable of underwater, surface, and aerial navigation.

The ride will also feature an exclusive pre-show room, including EDGE performers, large monitors showing Godzilla coastal attacks and detailed schematics of the Goose Nest mothership, plus a mockup of the KIJU type 0‐G BREAKER‐ in its hangar.

GODZILLA THE RIDE: GREAT CLASH follows Yamazaki’s original Godzilla the Ride: Giant Monsters Ultimate Battle attraction, which is currently showing at Seibuen Amusement Park. Yamazaki is currently working on a new Godzilla feature film.

Am I wrong or are G’s spines less jagged and more classic looking?

I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I think Heisei just got beat for Mechagodzilla's worst design.

Good god.

It sort of looks like they took Kiryu and removed all the coolest parts.

Yeah. Yamazaki has a very mixed track record for monster designs…..

By mixed. I think G is the only one he’s done well with and that’s probably partially because he’s been refining that design for decades now.

Need to see MechaG move. I see elements of Kiryu, Monsterverse and even CoteB in the design so far.

That MG looks like what would happen if you asked ChatGPT to generate an image of Mechagodzilla. Or like something you'd see out of a unlicensed kaiju-themed mobile game.

So this is what a Bayformers MechaGodzilla would look like... I dig it. Hope they do some figures.

Cool redesign, so Mothras the only one of the big 5 yet that he hasn't played with.

Cool to see another ride, but as others have pointed out it looks like ass. I think the reason why is because it’s very closely mimicking G2023’s design, down to the sizable bulk in the legs and larger emphasis on the tail. The worst part of it is the goofy mouth.

Wonder what this means for the Yamazaki film, if anything. Suddenly a lot more credence to those dumb rumors about the sequel taking place in the future or whatever. We know the ride borrowed ideas and experience from that carrying into the film.

I can almost guarantee you that Mothra shows up in either this ride or the sequel.

He previously said the time jump would mirror that of the real life distance between films. So maybe something in the late 40s or early 50s.

Considering how unsightly MV Mothra already is, I sure can't wait to see how her knockoff looks.

Little too Kiryu derivative IMO. I've slowly been getting sick of how overused Kiryu has become. Though I also see a little Monsterverse MechaG coming through in that skull likeness, I dig that. I like its scary face, though yeah, maybe a little "goofy" in the context of Minus One type designs, lol.

Feel like all these Ride designs (except Godzilla) are Monsterverse expies, feels like Toho(?) doesn't wanna give in and just use the American versions

Strangely enough, I like the design and I hated MV MechaG. I definitely see alot of potential for various weapons and being a melee beast.

I enjoy a good redesign. Was hoping they were going to take creative liberties with Godzilla again, but what are you going to do? MG looks like they just added armor plating to the MV-MG.

I'm sure the sequel movie he will look exactly the same. Not like they change his design that much in the MV movies anyways other than the New Empire.

Yamazaki recycles, he doesn’t really innovate. And his recycling is often inferior from the original product (but you all aren’t ready for this truth bomb yet ;) ).

I don't like that MechaGodzilla design AT ALL. He is a very talented director, but Yamazaki's monster redesigns all feel like knock-offs of the MonsterVerse's.
