The cover for the second Shout Factory Jackie set (which covers '83 to '93) has leaked. No confirmed movies, but the art seems to suggest Operation Condor, Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars, Crime Story and (maybe) Wheels on Meals (hopefully!).

Once we find out what films aren't on this we'll have a pretty good idea about what films other companies have already claimed. I read the Project A duology is gonna come from someone this year.

Another thing: Warner has rights to a bunch of Golden Harvest films. These were supposed to start getting releases from the Warner Archive, but like 2 years ago practically everyone was fired from Warner Archive and then a year later they've been rehired and releases have started ticking up again. I think that's still in the planning, but because of the situation it was put off.

Cool, I want to grab both of Shout's Jackie volumes eventually!

Meanwhile, I stumbled upon this scene from My Lucky Stars: https://youtu.be/IVJY2L4M54c

I'm sold! I like Sammo Hung too, I want to check out a lot of his stuff. Mostly familiar with him from IP Man 2.

TokuSHOUTsu had two early Jackie Chan movies I never heard of before this weekend:

The Killer Meteors
Shaolin Wooden Man

Not sure if any of you have seen them before but they definitely seemed a bit weird lol.

^ Yeah, they're on the first set (shipping now). Vol. 1 has a lot of early "Jackie isn't really Jackie yet" movies, and his most famous early movies (like Drunken Master) are held by other rights holders, but vol. 2 has some classics. Wheels on Meals is great.

Lol damn the AMC by me has Titanic this weekend....

Anyway, only a few more movies left on the Shaw Bros sets. No one has heard of a Volume 3 by Arrow right?

^ They acquired enough movies for two more volumes. They're apparently branching out from more than just kung fu movies, too.

I watched Enter the Dragon in a Special Edition DVD (the one with the black background on the cover) a long time ago, and it was excellent!

I've also got two Dragon Dynasty DVDs, Five Deadly Venoms and The Return of the Five Deadly Venoms a.k.a. Crippled Avengers. Haven't watched them yet, but I watched the first one on TV a long time ago and loved it! Can't wait to watch them subtitled.

Shout Factory getting into releasing Shaw movies! Box set of the Brave Archer series coming as a Shoutfactory.com exclusive. Also, the American Genre Film Archive is remastering Gordon Liu's Shaolin vs. Wu Tang. No release date for the disc yet - think they'll do screenings first.

... and now Shout really throws down the gauntlet! Their own Shaw Brothers vol. 1 set, and considering this set seems to draw on late '60s swordfighting flicks it's reasonable to assume that they've acquired a number of films and they're going chronologically.

https://shoutfactory.com/collections/ne ... sics-vol-1

I remind you: Arrow has already acquired enough movies for volumes 3 & 4 of their Shawscope series. I think it's quite likely that every Shaw martial arts, action, sci-fi, horror or fantasy film will have a US blu-ray release within the next two years.

This is crazy awesome! Looks like the kung fu blu ray collection is going to get closer and closer to size to the Godzilla one!

Right now I've a shelf that's almost full just of kung fu blu-rays. By the end of the year it'll have to be two shelves and one will just be Shaw Brothers!

Glad to see that English dubs are being included in most of these. Part of the kung fu movie experiencing is an option for Hong Kong dubs!

Wow, was unaware how much Iron Monkey positions itself as a prequel to the Once Upon a Time in China movies! I knew it was about young Wong Fei Hung, but... I mean, the umbrella fighting!

Little bit of old news but Jackie Chan is making a sequel to New Police Story which is long overdue although I'd kill for a Supercop reunion with Michele Yeoh.
