The world was calm. The abomination who’s creation he had been trying to stop was destroyed, beheaded by an unlikely ally in his most desperate hour. The alpha titan laid on the ocean floor, taking in deep breaths as he slept. Dreaming of the distant past when he witnessed the fall of an ancient civilization… until he heard an all too familiar sound.

Bump bump… bump bump

His eyes opened in the vast darkness, the heartbeat drawing his attention more than most would. Though he didn't know why, it sounded, no, felt familiar. Shut there was something off about it all the while, even his feelings aside, for it felt… human.

The ancient leviathan began to rise from the ocean floor, standing among a couple of wrecked ships and wildlife passing by him as he looked up towards the surface before taking off, swimming towards where he felt the strange pulse.

***

Hate. Greed. Lust. Power. Suffering.

That is all she felt in the city, humanity's sins were most present here. The human part of her knew this city as the “Big Apple”, but the goddess of vengeance cared not for what it was called, all that mattered to her was to make the city into a warning.

Those that harm the innocent, those that would bring nothing but hatred and commit vile acts against their own kind, would face her wrath.

Helicopters surrounded a nearby bridge, reporters telling the public of the possible rise of another Titan as a massive form began to erupt from the water. Her body was like a void, pitch black with yellow, luminous sacks covering her neck and chest. Dorsal spines ran down her back, two gigantic, clawed hands ripped through the water as a tail resembling a trident quickly cut through steel, sparks flying as the bridge by her side was cut.

At first, the humans had believed that this was their savior king, or a subspecies of him, but they soon realized that this was something much worse.

The goddess of vengeance looked towards the flying vehicles with curiosity at first as she took a step forward, a few opening fire upon her form. A mistake they would regret. With a booming roar of divinity, she announced her attack on New York. The monster turned, vomiting an orange ball of phlegm at one of them, landing a direct hit before exploding. The light of the burning helicopter was visible to the world before it plummeted into the cold abyss below, those watching from home standing still in horror as the new Titan reached over and ripped a part of the bridge off. Bullets rained down on her armored plates before one hit one of the many energy sacks across her neck, forcing an explosion outward, engulfing a few of the vehicles in a matter of moments. A roar of pain echoed through the city as the energy had returned to her, her healing factor absorbing the power displayed and repairing the damage. Those that remained watched as the smoke cleared, a chunk of metal being thrown into the busy streets of Manhattan.

Her tail moved with precision as it swung upward, knocking another one of humanity’s flying machines down to crash into the sea. Water fell from her form as she stepped onto the land, breaking concrete as if it were nothing. Civilians screamed in terror as the goddess moved onward towards her target. The financial district of lower Manhattan; Wall Street. She felt nothing but pure malice from here, those that were hungry for power. Violent acts over territory and money were constantly being committed by those that dwelled here. No more.

No longer would someone feel unsafe as they walked the streets at night, no longer would a child go missing from school, no longer would a spouse feel fear from their significant other. They would all be purged.

“Stop!”

The goddess moved onward as a voice began to echo in her mind, the human half of her attempting to take power over their shared body. But she moved forward, continuing her quest for vengeance.

“I SAID STOP!”

The monster growled under her breath as the girl’s voice began to get louder, demanding her attention. All the goddess could do was give the human a warning… to stay quiet.

Then her mind began to pulse as she felt something. Something familiar, yet like a stranger all the while. The goddess of Greek mythology turned towards the bay from which she arrived, spotting a set of dorsal spines cutting through the water. Water erupted into the sky as the new arrival emerged, his yellow eyes staring at her as the water fell back down. As the goddess looked upon the new arrival, her mind felt as if it were about to shatter. The weight was too much for her to concentrate as memories began to flash, she had met this beast somewhere but did not know where in their past they saw him. The human part of her, on the other hand, recognized the monster all too well.

A cold chill of fear ran down the dual-minded being’s spine as the monster stepped onto the bay. Maigo had seen him fight the MUTOs on television before that fateful day… the day that her life was taken from her by the man she thought she could trust most. She opened her mouth and uttered a single word in the dark void of their connected minds.

“Godzilla…”

The monster king looked upon the panicking invader. Rage rushed through his body as he remembered this one. The alien invader that took the civilization he fought for, that cared for him and his companions when they needed them most. A memory flashed before his eyes.

Blood ran down his snout as he began to rise back to his feet. He watched as the alien invader tore into a weapon that humanity had built to defend their precious city. He remembered the heat he felt as the fire of a burning empire blossomed all around him. Somewhere in this city the body of his closest ally, his dearest friend, lay in a bloodied heap. He stared into the eyes of the one that was responsible, his…

Nemesis.

The ancient alpha predator unleashed a bellow of rage at the alien before charging at top speeds, slamming into her bulk. The vengeful deity snapped out of her panicked state, roaring with fury as she wrapped her hands around him. She attempted to push the king back, only for the champion of humanity to bite into her shoulder, earning a cry of pain as he shook his head back and forth. His razor-sharp teeth dug into her shoulder blade, before he was pushed away by a strong kick. Godzilla slid across the streets before stopping himself and charging once again, swiping at the monster’s head with his talons.

Nemesis reared her head back before reaching out with her jaws, biting into the king’s forearm before pulling him in and attempting to stab his chest with her tail. Godzilla was quick to grab the limb with his free hand, energy beginning to climb up his throat. A gigantic, blue beam lashed across her hide, pushing the goddess back as she screamed, only for the beam to detonate the sacks across her body. The monster king’s eyes widened in a mix of surprise and fear as the light engulfed him and the city block before the explosion sent him tumbling back. The guardian cried out as he put his hand through a building, catching himself as smoke rose from his form. Looking upon Nemesis’ form, he noticed the damage was no longer visible. The wound was already healing back to the way it was. Godzilla let out a snarl as the goddess of vengeance charged forth, she swung towards the king, striking his chest, sparks flying across his body as the leviathan let out a groan of pain. The predator stepped back as the goddess made another attempt to strike, missing and tearing through a nearby skyscraper, forcing the building to collapse. Quickly, Godzilla turned around and swung his tail, striking Nemesis across the face as she tried to approach, forcing her to stay put as the building crashed on top of her, a roar of pain and rage exiting her maw.

Godzilla stepped forward, stomping through the rubble and crushing Nemesis’ arm. The goddess roared as the monster king applied pressure, attempting to snap it at the wrist. The vengeful legend unleashed a cry of pain before firing a glob or brilliant orange from her maw, striking the Titan across his chest. An explosion sent the alpha back once more as the extraterrestrial’s tail stabbed into his arm, blood flowing like a river as the monster king released a cry of anguish. Atomic energy began to climb once again, the fire monster taking in a deep breath as smoke rose from his maw, before unleashing the beam of radiation across her tail, forcing her to back away as Godzilla continued his onslaught.

Nemesis covered her head with her arm, blocking the atomic blast before attempting to strike Godzilla’s skull, missing and crashing into the ground in front of him. The monster king reared his leg back before striking Nemesis across the jaw, sending her tumbling back into a couple of smaller buildings. They were crushed under her weight instantly, killing those that did not evacuate in time.

The goddess began to shake off the rubble and rise to her feet as Godzilla slammed into her at top speeds, knocking her back to the ground and slashing at her armor. Sparks flew as the king attempted to cut through the false god’s flesh, Nemesis raising her leg and attempting to stab him with the gigantic spike that laid on her knee. Godzilla quickly backed away before swinging his tail at the rising Kaiju, striking across the goddess' jaw, sending her rolling across the ground before catching herself and rising to her feet. She charged at full speed and slammed into his hide, forcing Godzilla to the ground as he roared.

Nemesis raised her hand, smiling as she plunged the claws into her own neck, specifically one of the glowing patches. An explosion erupted from her form, consuming the pair in an instant before the energy returned to the goddess. Godzilla roared in agony as he was thrown back, his top half splashing into the bay. The goddess walked over, reaching down and grabbing the monster king by his neck, only for his tail to knock the avatar of vengeance onto her back. The alpha titan turned around as he rose back to his feet, firing another beam at the goddess. The ancient weapon raised her hand in front of her face, blocking the stream of energy before striking Godzilla across the jaw, cutting into his chin.

The alien weapon struck Godzilla across his body, cutting scales before the ancient leviathan grabbed the gigantic hand and bit into her forearm. Swinging his head back and forth, blood fell into his maw as Nemesis attempted to stab the king in the torso, only for the king to catch the striking limb with his free hand.

The goddess looked into Godzilla’s eyes, feeling as if he was looking into her soul. Quickly with his free hand, the monster king grabbed her arm and let go of the flesh with his jaws before with all his strength he pushed Nemesis to the ground. The titan cried out as she was forced on her back while Godzilla swung with his claws multiple times across her armored body, making sure to miss the explosive sacks, drawing blood across his talons as they dug into her exposed muscle.

Nemesis cried out in pain as she turned her tail around Godzilla’s leg and stabbed the trident-like tip into his flesh. The alpha titan let out a roar of rage as he reared his head into the sky, before reaching down with his hands, wrapping his claws around her head. He reared back and headbutted her. The false god’s head became hazy as the monster king slammed his foot into her chest, breaking bones in an instant as he looked down, staring at the alien. Godzilla puffed out his chest before roaring with all his might.

The beast of myth looked up, releasing a roar in response, the two locking eyes as their cries echoed across the city. Atomic energy began to climb up the ancient guardian’s throat, his gills, dorsal spines, and eyes glowing blue before an atomic blast exited his maw, striking Nemesis across her chest and quickly forcing her downward. The false prophet screamed as the atomic energy pushed her farther and farther into the earth, the power of the atom burning her armor and scales. Beneath her, boiling earth gave way to air, sending her plummeting down several miles. The beam stopped, smoke rising from her body. Nemesis drew in deep breaths, her bones broken, and her organs feeling as if they were about to burst.

She needed to move, and fast. The goddess got up, grunting as pain rushed through her body. She looked around her, in awe at the new environment she was in. Where was she? Neither her alien nor human half knew. The sky looked as if the world had been flipped upside down, the area was full of vegetation and a similar signal to her opponent. Was this world filled with radiation? The same radiation the planet was engulfed in, millions of years ago when they first crashed here. Nemesis knew not where she was, but she knew she needed to move forward and get ready for her attacker to advance.

Godzilla looked down the gigantic hole into the Hollow Earth. The leviathan quickly jumped down, the immense gravitational change not affecting him as he fell down. The monster king knew she was near, he needed to finish this. If she was to escape, there would be no telling what would happen.

The nuclear alpha roared as he crashed into the ground, losing his footing and falling onto his stomach. Godzilla shook off debris as he rose back to his feet, growling as he marched forward towards the energy signature of his opponent.

The radioactive goliath marched forward, smelling the air to track his prey’s scent, when an explosion slammed into his neck. Godzilla cried out as he stumbled back, looking around him to find his attacker. Another ball of explosive fluid was fired, but missed, striking the ground by his feet. The monster king looked up, spotting Nemesis above him. The alien weapon stood on the other side of the gravity barrier. Godzilla’s dorsal spines lit up before he unleashed the atomic blast, Nemesis running from the beam before jumping off the cliff, switching sides.

The goddess of vengeance roared with fury as she pointed her trident-like tail downward, smiling as her form slammed into Godzilla. Her tail pierced the middle of his arm, forcing the king onto his belly. The alpha roared in agony as blood trailed down his arm and onto the ground, the entire midsection of his arm ripped to shreds.

Nemesis smiled as energy surrounded her maw, aiming towards Godzilla’s head…

With all his strength, Godzilla threw his opponent off of him, the blade exiting his flesh as she stumbled back and fired the loogie past him, blowing apart another portion of the ecosystem. The nuclear leviathan looked towards his arm before turning away, cringing at the sight of the wound. The arm was torn to shreds, the lower part of the limb almost falling off as a result of the damage. Not even his regeneration could bring back this wound.

The bio-engineered deity smiled as she lifted her tail to her maw, licking the blood-covered blade as she watched her opponent in pain. The human side of her was foolish. She could finish off the guardian here and now.

“I know what you are thinking and it won’t work. That was a lucky hit,” Nemesis growled at the statement. How could she say this? She had gained the upper hand and with it, she could kill her rival. “He’ll find a way...he always does.”

Silence!

“You can’t make me be quiet. We are one. You know what I am thinking and feeling and vice versa. Our bond is unbreakable. No matter how much I wish this to not be the case. Your arrogance will get us killed!”

Nemesis began to grow furious when Godzilla charged at her, leaping forward as he opened his maw. The goddess snapped out of it as the king attempted to wrap his fangs around her throat, quickly dodging out of the way before Godzilla turned a full 360 degrees and slammed his tail into her torso. He pushed her back before slashing at her head with his talons, slicing into her skull. The monster cried out as Godzilla continued his attack, before she reached out and bit into the lower arm and ripped it off. The mound of flesh hung in her maw as she pushed Godzilla back and got to her feet.

The ancient alpha predator squealed as he backed away, the loss of his arm being a painful experience. With his other hand, he covered the wound, attempting to stop the bleeding.

The two stared at each other for a mere moment before Nemesis charged forward, swiping at Godzilla, only for the ancient guardian to dodge the attack and slam his head into her stomach, pushing her back. Nemesis stumbled as Godzilla crawled towards her at surprising speeds, blood trailing down his destroyed limb as the monster king attempted to bite her, only for Nemesis to raise her foot and kick the alpha away.

Godzilla attempted to rise from his feet when the alien clone lunged forward and thrust her arm into the alpha’s stomach, the leviathan letting out a cry of agony as Nemesis lifted him up, blood flowing like a river down his body. The goddess looked into his eyes as her maw began to glow once again, this was it, she had him!

The monster king closed his eyes as his dorsal spines began to glow once again, the atomic energy climbing at every second’s passing. He once again opened his eyes, now glowing blue like sapphires before unleashing a stronger atomic blast, the beam consuming the side of Nemesis’ face and neck. The beam went on before the goddess dropped the king, screaming in agony as smoke rose from her wounds.

Muscle boiled, blood turning into steam. The blast managed to break through the armor and cook the flesh underneath. She turned towards Godzilla, the leviathan struggling to breathe as blood rushed out his body. And to her surprise, he began to rise back to his feet. What drove this creature? Determination to finish the mission? Hatred for her in a past life? Perhaps a mix of both? Either way, she was ready.

“Run...you can’t beat him, you have to run!,” Nemesis snarled as the girl’s words rang like a doorbell. The goddess of vengeance took a stance, ready for the monster king to make another attempt.

“Please! I don’t want to die again!,” The kaiju’s brown eyes widened as her words reached her. “We share the same body, we are one...if you die… I die… please… I don’t wanna go back to that dark void.” Tears fell from the little girl’s eyes, pushing past her hands as she collapsed onto the “ground”. Maigo had been given a second chance at life, though it was unnatural and she had to share her body with a weapon created by invaders from the stars, it was still a life. All she wanted was to run, to be able to touch again, to be able to taste something other than the flesh of her fellow man.

She was right.

The goddess either needed to run or finish him. And the avatar of vengeance was no coward, she needed to beat the alpha titan now more than ever. Her skin began to crack as light erupted from her form. The darkness of the night was consumed by the white holy light as Nemesis shed her armor.

Twin demonic, yet angelic, wings opened up from her back, multiple rows of feather-like scales laid across them. Her armor disappeared, revealing a more slender body. One more energy sack laid on her head like a gem. Though she wasn’t as bulky as she once was, the goddess was still a force to be reckoned with.

Nemesis had reached her fourth stage.

Godzilla stood among a destroyed battlefield, heavily breathing as his spines glowed like miniature stars. Every last ounce of power in his wracked body was being drawn out, ready to be unleashed to erase this threat.

The two stared into each other’s eyes, this was it. The end. Their eons-long rivalry coming to an end, the final battle which neither knew if they would emerge to see the dawn of the next day. But that didn’t matter, all that mattered was that one of them would be dead at long last.

The two reborn gods unleashed roars of supreme divinity, rage and adrenaline consuming them as energy began to build.

Memories flashed in front of the alien’s eyes, both her human and her Kaiju self had been through more than they had believed ever possible. The pain, the hate. Perhaps now, after destroying her rival she would find peace… but first, she would need to unleash her Divine Judgement upon the royalty. Her wings spread open and reflected light from the underground sun-like object in the distance.

A loud thump echoed throughout the valley, azure energy building up as blood dripped onto the ground. At last, he could avenge his oldest friend, at last Anguirus’ killer would be slain and even though he didn’t know if he would survive his next action, Godzilla could finally rest.

A moment of silence passed before the two unleashed their respective attacks, the Divine Judgement punching holes through Godzilla as his Atomic Blast punctured Nemesis. This duel of fates had concluded, the stand-off of gods ending in a blinding light, roars of pain and rage, and a rivalry ending in a draw.

The two fell on the ground, both motionless. Consciousness faded as blood flowed from their bodies. Nemesis stared off in the distance, her vision blurry as a small object approached. Perhaps it was an illusion?

“It’s okay...we can rest now, at least,” Wait...was it… We were given unholy life after death. I wanted to live. I’m sure you did too.” It’s the girl…

A tear ran down Maigo’s face as she placed her hand on Nemesis’ snout in the mind, their consciousnesses connected as they slowly faded from life. The girl smiled as she began to cry, all she could do was comfort the other side of her. Though it was a monster, it was still a part of her being. ”See you on the other side...Nemesis.”

Her heartbeat slowly faded, slowing down before ceasing. The life in the goddess’ eyes was now gone. Nemesis laid on the ground was nothing more than a corpse.

Godzilla looked at the corpse of his slain opponent as it began to disappear into the wind, her body finally being disintegrated to nothing but ash from his attack. The monster king’s spines dimmed, darker than usual. He had done it. He had destroyed the very being responsible for destroying his precious city and his closest friend. He could rest now.

The alpha king drew his last breath before falling to his wounds.

The world had changed forever today.

***

It had only been a few hours since the battle of gods had taken place. Scavengers came to feast on the flesh of the dead alpha. A shadow engulfed the corpses, making the scavengers scatter in all directions as to not get crushed. The king of the Hollow Earth had arrived to his surprise, he found the corpse of the one he had fought Mechagodzilla with.

Kong looked down at the decaying remains of Gojira, anger flaring in his mind that he was not the one to finish off the leviathan, but a part of him felt bad for he could not return the favor of saving him. The ape looked down, smelling the remains before opening his jaws and taking a chunk out of Godzilla. Though he was not the one to finish the alpha off, he still felt like devouring what remained.

The last of the Kongs continued on with his meal, showing a new Alpha to the world. With Godzilla out of the picture, Kong was now the planet’s guardian.

Long live the king.

Fucking Kong, man.

Fucking Kong.
That was a rough one! I didn’t expect myself to be rooting for Nemesis—a Kaiju I sadly don’t know much about—but there’s always a first for everything.

Another win for Bacon! Part of me hopes a sequel is made.

This was nice! Just a neat little K.W.C.E to tide us over.
Spoiler:
It'll be interesting to see if this story gets continued, considering Kong is now the sole main guardian of earth..

A guy who randomly stumbled upon this place one day, invested much too much time into it, and now appears to be stuck here for all eternity..and strangely enough, i do not regret it!

Damn good match that had me at the edge of my seat. Glad to see Nemesis finally get her due.

Thank you all for the kind words. I am pretty happy with how this match turned out. To those that haven't read the Nemesis Saga they slap and should be consumed, heavily reconmend.

A solid match, very much enjoyed the interplay between the monsters’ characterizations. Action was tense and great as well.
Spoiler:
Adore how Godzilla’s HE Driller is utilized here, very creative and badass. Favorite part of the match is probably Maigo pleading with Nemesis to turn away, pulls at the heart strings well, especially with how it ultimately turns out

Very good!
Spoiler:
After Godzilla's arm was ripped off I was able to predict every hit the Kaiju would inflict against each other after that. It's like I had their instincts.
I liked the match ending in a draw with Nemesis unleashing her final form. Brought back memories of reading the book in middle school.

Kong is a hungry b***ard for that last part :P

At last, Nemesis is HERE!
Spoiler:
This was a great match! I really liked the characterization of both Godzilla and Nemesis (plus Maigo too), as well as the brutal action you managed to pull off here. The use of both their powers was great, especially the Hollow Earth beam. The ending being a death for both of them is pretty somber as well, yet fulfilling in Godzilla's case because of the backstory you added.

I have to admit, when I first read this on DeviantArt I was... kinda mixed on Kong eating Godzilla, but I don't mind it as much now. Speaking of the DeviantArt cut, I noticed that Burning Godzilla was used there, but not here. I'm a little curious as to why, not that I mind the change.

Overall, an awesome match for a somewhat obscure kaiju rivalry!

This is a great set up with fast-paced action sewn throughout. And in many respects, it illustrates the similarities and differences between MV Godzilla and Nemesis, and the combat used for both was nothing short of spectacular.
Spoiler:
The part where Maigo pleaded for her life was a surprisingly emotional bit that fits nicely with the nature of the character. Even got me emotional, good job!
