Looking good! It doesn’t seem to be quite as slender as the original suit. But that’s not really a critique, just an observation. Very excited to see how this turns out! The Hedorah short will was awesome!

Agreed; the lights in the buildings and lighting of the set looks lovely. Movie-worthy.

Why did they not use a re-made G54 suit like in that promotional shot?

If I were to guess, probably that the 2004 suit is just more mobile and easier to "fight" in. They also already fixed it up for filming just a year ago; must still be holding up well. At the same time, it is 18 years old now and that age is very much visible.

That Gigan suit is cool, but the neck is definitely extremely stumpy. It actually looks like they used a specific Marmit for reference (the Monster Heaven one from the early 2000s).

Gigan looks awesome! Here I was thinking maybe he would have a big tummy, but it's his neck. Maybe the brace on the head in the neck had to be made bigger for safety reasons? Heisei Backlighting is always cool to see, especially with creatures that have sharp and jagged silhouettes. Last time I saw a Heisei Backlighting that got me good was Destrudos a few years ago.

I don’t know how to describe seeing this, except this feels like a weird thing from a dream. I’ve occasionally had dreams of finding random nonsensical Godzilla films, and this feels like something random that exists.

I know that this, and Godzilla vs Hedorah from last year are no replacements for the old school movies, but I’m still happy to see Godzilla suits and miniatures in the modern era. It’s cool that the teaser is reminiscent of the Heisei teasers.

Yes, specifically a "stunt double" suit made for Final Wars used for the more actiony scenes and promotional appearances.

People on Twitter pointed out how Gigan has a knack for fighting decaying Godzillas.

Gigan definitely looks a little chunky. Not as svelte as the original. But it still looks awesome! Can’t wait to see this short.

Regarding the ‘54 Godzilla being absent… could they be planning to have both versions (original and Final Wars) of EACH monster appear? A four way brawl with Godzilla 54 and 04 and Gigan 72 and 04?! Probably not, but a man can dream!!
