Man, I’m realizing I haven’t seen many new movies this year.

The Batman is easily my favorite.

Top Gun Maverick was also really good though I still like the original more (I’ve met plenty of people who like this sequel better than the original!)

Sonic 2 was a pretty darn fun family movie and my kids LOVED it.

Doctor Strange 2 was… ok. There were parts of it approaching greatness but as a whole it was a middling marvel movie.

It’s killing me that I haven’t had a chance to see Jurassic World Dominion yet! Even if it’s as bad at JP3 (is it?) I’ll still love it. They’d have to really work hard to make a Jurassic Park film that I didn’t like.

JP3 absolutely destroys Dominion on every level. There's nothing resembling competition.

They worked pretty hard. Dominion was right down there in the maggot-infested mud with The Rise of Skywalker. I do not exaggerate.

Interesting. Personally I find JP3 to easily be the worst JP movie of the five I’ve seen. I actually like Jurassic World 1 & 2. Honestly I’d only consider the first film a truly good movie (and even it is pretty corny at times). The rest are all just super high budget b-movie monster flicks. But they’re (mostly) really fun monster flicks. Now I’m really curious to see Dominion.

I’ve also heard Thor Love and Thunder is pretty rough. I’m to the point with marvel movies that I’m happy to wait for them to pop up on streaming unless it’s something really special (Spider-Man NWH).

It depends on what you're looking for. To me, since the JWs are sequels, they would need stylistic continuity with the originals -- and they do have that, to an extent, only they bastardize it by simplification. When seen alone, they're poorly directed and written (Domino's being the worst offender for me). But your mileage may vary

Well, I just watched JW: Dominion. Yep, it’s a bad movie. I still enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t claim it to be anything more than it is. A poorly written and sloppily edited mess.

But I don’t know if I’d say it’s worse than JP3. As bad? Yeah.

Regardless, the Jason-Bourne-with-trained-hunter-dinos motorcycle chase in Malta was a lot of fun. Heck, pretty much all the Dinos were fun despite the overall quality of the story. I also really liked the dimetrodon sequence. It was very “50’s b-movie monster” in a good way.

I haven't seen much either. Wanted to see Dr Strange 2 until I found out who the villain was. All these awesome different multiversal enemies they could have chose from and they elect not to use any of them. I usually love going to the movies but this year I just have no drive to.
