2024 - Godzilla's 70th, what do you expect/hope for?

For the discussion of Shin Godzilla, Godzilla -1.0, the anime trilogy, Godzilla Singular Point and Toho produced and distributed films after 2015. Includes US movies financed by Toho like Detective Pikachu.

UHD discs of all the classic toho films (1954-2004) that toho can price gouge me with for importing to a foreign country.

Im already down $140 for the kk vs. G (1962) disc. Imagine how much they can make off me alone (28 multiplied by $140)... Make it happen toho... until the 70th ill be waiting.. :Godzilla68:

And no 4k streaming versions do not count that bs always has a worse bitrate i want the home theatre xperience

Since I'm a man who believes in second chances, I'd say give Bandai/Namco another chance the game rights to Godzilla.

They were able to get 3 console games out within a 6 year span. What about them do you think entails a "second chance"?

Have this ever happen in the godzilla of realsing two godzilla films in the same year cause I think Mothra vs godzilla and ghidorah the three headed monster were out in the same year 1964 if I remember correctly. But anyway godzilla vs Kong 2 or whatever they going to name the 5th monsterverse film is set for 2024 what are the chances of toho have a movie plan for 2024 as well for godzilla 70 birthday . And the chances of having 2 godzilla films in the same year but made by us and Japan idk well this happen and just a thought

^I don’t think having 2 Godzilla films in one year from the same studio is a good idea.

I think it's possible. The upcoming MV film is scheduled to be released in March of 2024. Toho can choose December, when Godzilla films have traditionally been released so far.

And I personally guess this "Godzilla vs Kong 2" is gonna be pretty much Kong-centric film. If it really is, then there is no reason why Toho should not hold an actual party for the birthday boy, in their domestic market.

The domestic release (if there is one) wouldn't be till 2025 probably. Well after the next MonsterVerse movie hits home video. Besides we have no clue what the new contract entails. Remember the rules of the previous contract were probably changed, especially if this Yamazaki project is indeed a Godzilla film.

Agree, we won’t get it until the next year at earliest, so it just means the 70th anniversary train runs a little longer over here. Which I personally have no issue with.

If the film being worked on now is Godzilla expect a summer or November 2023 release than MV5 in March 2024 with home video releases for bith maybe by the end of 2024. MV5 will be out for blu ray around September 2024 at the latest and maybe the Toho film if it is Godzilla will be November 2024.

I couldn't find the proper thread, so I'll just post it here..... Perhaps, this may be the start of a long-term campaign for the 70th anniversary.

Toho just changed the front page of the website, and it looks cool. Godzilla is truly the face of the company.

Mosugoji seemed reluctantly tossed in there out of obligation, but at least Showa got that much representation.

What makes you say that?

Personally, everything there that wasn't Shin Godzilla felt like an afterthought.

I think a bunch of shorts, plus a Legendary and Toho film are in the works. Plus SP season 2 and a Shin Heroes thing.

I do think we will get a 70th anni short with Godzilla fighting King Ghidorah and MechaG who turn 60 and 50 respectively.

It's not like they haven't done it before.

2024/2025 will also be when the floodgates open for MechaGodzilla, although my hope is that Godzilla’s 70th can distract from more mindless Kiryu variants.
