General Gaming News Thread
I figured this should have its own thread since the News thread in GD is typically reserved for politics/celebrities.
Anyway, I'm sure you heard the news that Koei Tecmo is now charging $1 to change character's hair color in Dead or Alive 6.
As if charging nearly $2k worth of DLC and multiple season passes wasn't money-gouging ENOUGH for them, now they're charging you for a fucking hair palette swap? And worse yet: they're charging you EVERY time you want to change your character's hair color, even to change it back. WTF? Is this an alternate reality? This is just a peg below Konami charging $10 for additional save slots in Metal Gear Survive.

It reminds me of Asphalt 9 situation. It used to be a great racing game but now you are forced to pay for literally every step! WTF? Thus I switched to League of Legends, no complaints, no regrets. By the way LoL can boast to have such services like https://skycoach.gg/lol-boost which greatly improve gaming experience.KManX89 wrote:I figured this should have its own thread since the News thread in GD is typically reserved for politics/celebrities.

Microsoft will be releasing the Xbox Series X and Series S (All digital, slightly less powerful version) on November 10th for $299 (Series S) and $499 (Series X).
I'm really excited for this as well as the PS5 should both be excellent systems.

Xbox has been absolutely killing it this week, even releasing the embargo for different tech YouTubers to get their hands on both the Series S and X to share with the masses. The Series S is an unbelievable value, and if I didn't already have a beefy PC, I would add one on top of soon-to-be Series X purchase, and have the S hooked up to a monitor. Can't wait for the 22nd to get here for preorders.

I got a monitor that's gonna be perfect for a Series S Xbox! Think it'll be worth it even though it'll be less powerful, plus it'll give me a chance to hook up some of my old 360 games.

Hopefully they're digital and already BC because sadly the Xbox Series S doesn't have a disc drive. Honestly if it where just as powerful as the Series X I'd go with it over the X.Gigantis wrote:I got a monitor that's gonna be perfect for a Series S Xbox! ^ If it were, then it wouldn’t be at the insane price it is now. Aside from raw resolution, SSD size, and bandwidth, the S can do all of the things that the X can, just at 1080p and 1440p.

True. Now there's rumors of a Xbox Series V that's the all digital version of the Series X but the reports say its still not as powerful as the X. I probably will just get the X hopefully on day one.Godzilla165 wrote:^ If it were, then it wouldn’t be at the insane price it is now. The 3DS was fantastic, but I'm A-OK with them focusing all their attention on just one console... especially one with the same sort of portability.CrimsonBloodX wrote:Nintendo officially ends production of the Nintendo 3DS family.

Re: General Gaming News Thread
Man Sony is already fubaring this generation up. First they mess up the preorders for the PS5 and then they go back on their word that there will be generational gaps by announcing after the PS5 event on Wednesday that Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon 2 will both have PS4 versions and last but not least raising the price on first party games to $70 with some exceptions being $50.
The $70 price tag won't bother me that much if the game is worth it, it better have a lengthy single player campaign and an extensive multiplayer as well if they want me to shell out $70 for a new game. I have a feeling that its going to drop down in price shortly though. I can't see many people getting on board with $70 games quite yet.
Despite all those mess ups I will still get a PS5 I probably won't get new games right away though. My PS5 will mainly be a PS4 for a little bit since my PS4 Pro sounds like a jet engine.

Re: General Gaming News Thread
Another thing, too is Guerilla Games' second team is working on something multiplayer-related according to job listings yet they've still, to this day left us in the dark as to what it is, be it multiplayer for Horizon 2 or a new multiplayer game. Rumors are it's a new SOCOM game (yes plz) and various leakers have said the same, yet you would think that the PS5 event would've been the perfect time to reveal it, yet they refused to do so. With PS5 pre-orders going live, it seems counterproductive to not reveal that.
I still plan on getting one at some point, but man, what a wasted opportunity. A new SOCOM/MP game would garner hype and pre-orders for sure.

For context: Disney’s acquisition of Star Wars cost less than Microsoft’s purchasing of Bethesda. This is absolutely unprecedented in the gaming industry.
