Catching Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" on the radio on the way home from work this morning. I saw a young bald eagle, too; the head wasn't white yet, but it was unmistakably an eagle.

Arbok's post in the Gamera: Rebirth thread. Sure didn't have THAT on my bingo card!

During my lunch break today I watched an episode of the “Planet Dinosaur” BBC documentary series, having never seen it before. I practically jumped out of my seat and cheered when narrator John Hurt nonchalantly referred to the spiked tail of a stegosaur as a “thagomizer”.

Discovered a new physical media store that's popped up in the old mall. DVDs, Blu-ray, 4K, VHS, CDs, games of all generations, trading cards, some toys, a bit of manga and comics in the back... not much vinyl, but I suppose the fact we've got some good record shops already precludes the need to go hard in that direction.
Thing is, it's a combination of tons of used stuff and new stock, so it has a dynamic selection, with lots of the latest releases from boutique labels. Besides regular Criterion sales at B&N my home video shopping has been almost entirely online for years, so I had a special thrill picking up a new release I'd been eyeing at an actual store! Just like old times.
... and I was happy to see it full of people browsing.

Re: What made your day? KAI
Started making a habit of going to Japanese public baths over the last week. Sounds nicer than you might think when you hear the word “public bath” in English, but it’s basically a spa. What’s nice is that it’s cheap, and inside the place is a decent restaurant you can order food at.
This isn’t super impressive or anything, but I’m sort of glad that I could overcome some awkwardness, and enjoy an aspect of Japanese society/culture I’ve been afraid of enjoying. It felt like the last “barrier” I’ve had within Japan, and I’d like to make it part of my weekly routine. When it gets warmer, it’ll be nice to go jogging Monday through Saturday, and then go to the baths on a Sunday.

Interesting. Turns out they have a location in Chattanooga. I'll have to check them out next time I'm up there.

I didn't realize they were a chain! Similar to 2nd and Charles, which has movies and music but is mostly a (used with some new) bookstore. They're owned by Books-A-Million.

Just got back from a short work retreat, and it was a blast! We went snorkeling, lots of beach fun, even if I did get a lil sunburnt.
