At this rate, I won't be surprsied if he makes it to 90 years old. Within that timeframe, he will almost certainly appoint a sucessor, securing the regime for the forseeable future.Greyshot151 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 7:12 pm Up in the air for the Iran Regime. Welp...

That's what I'm wondering too, how many enemies Netanyahu has in order to still remain in power? He probably thinks he can do this until he dies, but not everything lasts forever.Greyshot151 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 7:12 pm Up in the air for the Iran Regime. As for the ceasefire, MrGoji is spot on. While a stop to the killing for both sides is great news, Israel did start this war by bombing Iran's nuclear assets and air defense systems, dragging the U.S. into the conflict. Now the reason could be that Iran was close to a nuke, or more than likely, Israel's leader used it as another way to keep himself as the head of the government since he's facing multiple corruption cases and a host of discontent from his coalition.
Right now, we don't know how much Iran's nuclear program was set back, but based on photo imagery, it seems less successful than Trump claims. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_T79thmJBU
So if this happens again within the year, or the next few months, it wouldn't be too surprising. Netanyahu uses these conflicts to justify his place, but what enemies does Israel have left?

It should go without saying at this stage that anything this administration says should not be taken in good faith. They lie through their teeth regularly.

Not to say Trump is above lying about a deal, but that Iranian statement looks like face-saving BS. Their "attack" on the US base in Qatar was apparently announced beforehand and deliberately intended to do minimal damage. They probably have agreed to a ceasefire, or at least are willing to.

Not to distract from the Iran situation, but the Supreme Court just stripped due process away from you guys.

Looks like Isreal and Iran are back at it again. I guess the ceasefire is just for the US, eh?

You mean to tell me that Trump was jumping the gun with that announcement? Surely you jest!
It is kind of interesting though that Trump blamed both sides for violating the ceasefire, such as it was, instead of jumping right into Israel's corner. Guess we'll see how long that posture lasts.

“We have two countries that have been fighting for so hard and so long they don’t know what the fuck they are doing,” a furious Trump said of Israel and Iran, each of which he accused of violating the truce he announced the night earlier.
I highly highly doubt this’ll happen, but I’m wondering if trump will actually get sick enough of isreal to give up supporting them. Of course, we’re in too deep, but Trump does have a common track record of eventually getting really annoyed and having public fallouts with former allies that make him look weak.

You beat me to posting that. It's hard to picture Trump dumping Israel, but you never quite know with him. Best case scenario (besides the war ending completely) is that Trump abandons Israel, we don't get bogged down in another stupid war, and Trump loses support from the pro-Israel war hawks. We can dream, right?LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 3:37 am “We have two countries that have been fighting for so hard and so long they don’t know what the fuck they are doing,” a furious Trump said of Israel and Iran, each of which he accused of violating the truce he announced the night earlier.

And trump will have less basis or incentive for cracking down on campuses. Wishful thinking, yeah.JAGzilla wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 4:36 am You beat me to posting that. In positive news about this, the Khalil guy got released. And that guy who deported to El Salvador got sent back to the US (although now he faces federal charges lol). Point I’m trying to make here is that despite the doomers, and how we’re definitely on a slide TOWARDS authoritarianism, Trump isn’t a king and it’s important to keep up the good fight.

As of this morning, both sides have violated the ceasefire, and Trump is visibly pissed. (The video of the above quote)
Very unfortunate. I hope Trump will start applying pressure to Israel now.
edit: as of right now, the ceasefire is back in effect apparently, as Israel turned back on a raid it was about to complete after talking to Trump.

Sounds like this specifically affects immigrants regarding torture and deportation. Which is still horrible, mind you.Spuro wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 11:32 pm Not to distract from the Iran situation, but the Supreme Court just stripped due process away from you guys.

Trump wants a Nobel peace prize badly so all this war has to be pissed him off.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 3:37 am “We have two countries that have been fighting for so hard and so long they don’t know what the fuck they are doing,” a furious Trump said of Israel and Iran, each of which he accused of violating the truce he announced the night earlier.

I don't think he will abandon Israel however as that was one of his major talking points about the Democratics being bad because they were going to abandon the left.
Even if he distances from Isreal I don't think there will be a public falling out.

^Letting an f-bomb out in public is a sign of his mental health deteriorating... It can only get worse from here on out. At least that's what my dad says.

^ I don't know if I'd agree to that... swearing and generally harsh, offensive language have been a feature of MAGA all along. An F-bomb is extreme, but then I'm sure he knew that would guarantee him a ton of media attention and earn points with his base of edgy young men.
But yes, his mental health is clearly failing regardless.

Yeah, a president letting flying with an F-bomb in front of the cameras isn't great, but I'd say his recent rant about his predecessor letting "supercells" from Iran into this country is the more concerning indicator of his mental acuity. Those dastardly Iranians and their weather control machine!

There’s nothing Trump can say at this point that can be surprising or shocking. The idea that his mental health is deteriorating because he said fuck is silly. Anyone remember long time ago when there was some tape of Bush swearing? Pretty funny.
Maybe this was some weird 4D chess, and this in no mind changes my final opinion of him, but for some reason trump getting visibly angry like that made me warm and fuzzy inside. Just a further reminder he’s human, and he can feel frustrated about doing his job, while we’re frustrated by his presidency.
Also, I posted a bit about this in my last post, but a lot of Trump stuff is slowly being undone. Examples include, but are not limited to: a lot of federal agencies starting to rehire staff that were laid off by DOGE, Mark Carney discussing the de-escalation of the Canada 51st state talk, Trump signaling a deal with Harvard that is coming soon+Rubio re-opening student visas, and many people of both parties feeling more comfortable criticizing and questioning Trump’s motives. The marines never also got sent into LA, trump got distracted. This isn’t to minimize the damage he’s done, but don’t be a doomer and give up. Also, pick your fights carefully, and remember that while Trump likes the illusion of control, but in reality America as a collective is stronger than the presidency, for better and worse.

It was time to question him mentally when he mentioned they were eating the dogs and cats in Springfield.
He gets frustrated frequently when things don't go his way.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 4:10 am There’s nothing Trump can say at this point that can be surprising or shocking. Trump publicly blasting Israel with an F-bomb was the best sign of strong cognitive function that he showed all week.
