In other news, according to hobby.dengeki they will be reissuing the HG D+ 01 set this month.

Huh...? Why that? They teased 3 awesome new sets and instead of releasing those they re-issue an older one? Seems so random...

Size DOES matter!

Agreed.
On the bright side at least we're getting closer to the release of those new sets in the summer, I expect we'll get our first look at painted samples in due time.

If they're talking about the first set, the one with Godzilla 54, Godzilla 2016, Godzilla 2019, and King Ghidorah 2019, then that makes sense to sort of celebrate the 70th anniversary. However, it's still very strange to not just have the GXK stuff at this point.

On an unrelated note, I'm wondering if there's any Hedorah (Final Wars) minifigures out there that scales well with gashapons.

Hmmm, there is a soft vinyl minifigure that is small. However, I don't think it'll be the size you're looking for. Maybe it'll scale nicely with the modern high grade stuff but definitely not with the figures from the 2000s.WarpedBandicoot99 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 2:40 am On an unrelated note, I'm wondering if there's any Hedorah (Final Wars) minifigures out there that scales well with gashapons.

Ah I see, thank you for the response. I thought I'd ask considering I managed to grab the Godzilla Final Wars 50th Anniversary figure set that has multiple minifigures included, with some being Final Wars versions of characters not seen in gashapon form so they'd work as stand-ins. I'm not sure what the actual name of the boxset is, some listings called it "Pack of Destruction" and others call it "Godzilla Super Chronicle".LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 5:52 pmHmmm, there is a soft vinyl minifigure that is small. Re: General Gashapon/Small Figurine Thread
Looks like the set is out. From the pics I cannot tell if there is any difference between the reissue and original. I haven't found any comparison pics either after a quick search on google.jp. The mount is formatted ever so slightly differently (some text sections are moved around) and both the mount and inserts have the year "2024" where it was "2019" before. I'll probably end up buying a set just to take a closer look for differences.WarpedBandicoot99 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 10:45 am In other news, according to hobby.dengeki they will be reissuing the HG D+ 01 set this month.
I hope this is just for the 10th anniversary of the Monsterverse/5th anniversary of G:KotM and not a sign of them re-releasing the entire series. I would much prefer if this was followed by another Toho Kaiju set or a resumption of the D+ line with D+08.

Yeah that would make more sense, we'll probably get another Toho Kaiju set after those other upcoming sets.darkcancer wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 3:31 amLooks like the set is out. Also, is it me or are there two Shin Ultraman sets out there? I know there's one by CCP, but I'm sure I've seen another by Kaiyodo.

Re: General Gashapon/Small Figurine Thread
First images of the GxK gashapon set mount seem to be coming out. They look very similar to the prototype set (see bottom of pg 30 of this thread) but for some reason Godzilla seems a bit "cheap." Maybes its the smoothish texture in the image.

They actually look pretty good, there are some gripes I have but for the most part they're well-done.darkcancer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 2:04 pm First images of the GxK gashapon set mount seem to be coming out. I think Godzilla looks the best out of them for me, his pose and paintjob is neat. Kong I wish was in a more neutral pose rather than leaping but otherwise the sculpt is nice, Skar King could've used a bit more paint on his arms, and Shimo looks good as is, even if the sculpt is similar to Playmates' minifigure (which was in the same pose as her official render.)

Shimo and Skar King look fine. Strange that Kong is lacking the B.E.A.S.T. Glove. At least we get a Kong without an axe though.darkcancer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 2:04 pm First images of the GxK gashapon set mount seem to be coming out. Makes me wonder/hopeful if we'll get another GXK set with Kong and the B.E.A.S.T. Glove and maybe Mothra or Tiamat. Pipedream I know.

Re: General Gashapon/Small Figurine Thread
Not a big order but did fill in some gaps.
Got the reissue HG D+01 and the Toho Weapons set.

Even though its not HG, since its in the same line as the HGX Crossover set I figured I'd pick it up. I like the adjustable stands the Super X and Super II come with. Also, having an interchangeable part for each so they can be displayed firing their weapons was a nice touch. Not a complaint, but I wish there was a way to attach the not-in-use part to the stand in some way to keep it together with the rest of the vehicle. The other 3 are very similar in size, color, and plastic as the HGX vehicles.
As for the reissue set, I got it just so I could compare it to the original (and for completionist sake). Honestly, unless you had the originals next to the reissues, I don't think you'd be able to tell them apart. The reissues are all *slightly* different. Godzilla 2019 reissue is barely lighter, Godzilla 1954 reissue is barely lighter, Godzilla 2016 reissue has a slight gloss, and King Ghidorah 2019 reissue is barely darker. Don't worry, there are 2 ways to tell if you have an original or a reissue: like prior reissue sets, the 4 dot diamond symbol near the manufacturing details lets you know the first release. If it has 3 dots, its the reissue (previous HG sets do this as well). See the picture below. The second way is the paper insert that comes with each gashapon. The original is in color and the reissue is black and white. Now neither of these help if you buy a loose figure second hand

And lastly, got a few of the gashapon machine mounts I was missing. I don't know why but the 2017 one was really hard to come by. I've only seen it once before so I had to grab it when I saw it this time around. Got the HGD+01 reissue mount too, and like the set very similar to the original but some text boxes moved around and the new red gashapon logo replaced the blue/white/red logo that looks like it was made in powerpoint.

Re: General Gashapon/Small Figurine Thread
I love that vehicle set. I bought 5 complete sets off Y!J when they first came out because I wanted multiples. I painted the rocket launcher trucks up forever ago and have them displayed with my Ghidrah The Three-Headed Monster 25cm X-plus figures. The rocket trucks are actually in scale with the 25cm figures.
I have plans to paint the other vehicles but just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
I agree the swappable parts are really cool on the Super X’s. But they are certainly prone to get lost being so tiny. My plan is to just glue them together since I have multiples. I can paint up both regular and battle damaged versions, each with the weapons closed and opened and still have a spare of each super X.

Been a while, but it seems the next High Grade set is purely DAM focused.
Godzilla (1968)
Rodan (1968)
Baragon (1968)
Gorosaurus (1968)
Neat set!

On the Gashapon Online site it puts them as Baragon '65, Rodan '64, and Gorosaurus '67.
Also, judging from their height I believe they'll be a bit smaller than the Minus One set.
