3) Adult Mothra 1992, Adult Battra, Baby Godzilla & Godzilla 1999

They look gorgeous.

That is some really grand sculpting. The Godzilla 2000 looks excellent.

I'm going to move all these to the Gashapon thread, but:

-Happy to see Baby Godzilla. I think figures of that incarnation are pretty rare/don't exist other than the OG Bandai figure. Strangely, I'm much more excited for that than anything else. Not excited about the G2K figure, or the Mothra, but that Battra looks nice. It's a small detail, but the way that Battra's legs are sculpted adds a lot. It's difficult to explain, but a lot of the insect monsters will have their legs cut down to save detail/plastic, but Battra really does use his legs a lot in combat. That Gashapon is the second favorite of the set.

-The Showa Stuff is....awesome! A Showa Godzilla Gashapon is rare, and I'm glad to see the three others have nicely sculpted figurines. With the Sanda+Gaira release last year, I'm hoping they keep pushing out some more obscure Toho monsters, maybe a Varan or Dogora gashapon.

-All the GXK stuff is wonderful. Nuff dsaid.

Wow all this stuff looks very neat! I assume they'll be going with the new size they adopted for the Godzilla Minus One set.

You guys reckon they'll revisit Gamera Rebirth and give us more of the monsters from the show?

I’d be happy to have some Guiron figure, but other than that, I doubt it. I found a Gamera gashapon machine, and it was still full of figures…unlike the nearby Ultraman and Godzilla machines that were sold out.

I don’t think reception on Rebirth has been too hot, and their choices for the first wave are strange, and too distant from the series release.

I got the flying Gamera and spiky shell Gamera btw…not even the normal one, and I lost interest after that.

Wow I come back from vacation and miss so much! Pretty excited for all 3 sets and they each contain at least one kaiju that there hasn't been an HG for.

Showa set - Godzilla 1968 and Rodan 1964 (Bandai could call Gorosaurus "1968" and Baragon "1968" as well and they'd be "new"). One thing interesting about this set is its basically and updated HG 5 minus the Rebirth of Mothra III kaiju

1990s set - Very happy about the Baby Godzilla and the adult Mothra/Battra. (Didn't want to call this Heisei set since Godzilla 1999 in included.) My only gripe is the Godzilla 1999, I know that suit is popular but I feel like they could have had a Heisei incarnation like Godzilla 1992 to go with Mothra/Battra.

Monsterverse set - The sculps looks great, can't wait to see them in color!

Even though it will probably never happen, I still hope for a Zone Fighter gashapon figure. That'd be the best thing for me. Well, that and '62 Kong. Unfortunately the only Zone Fighter gashapon figure is from a Chojin Hero Densetsu set but it's quite out of scale with regular Godzilla gashapons.

I just picked up the set. I agree with you pretty much: 3 Gameras and Gyaos embroy are odd choices. I guess it makes sense from a production perspective since all 3 Gameras shell's are very similar, it probably saved money on the cost. The Gyaos embroy is interesting but it was such a short scene when they could have gone with any of the 5 actual baddies. Same with the buzzsaw Gamera. Still, even the prior 2 sets with 2 Gameras each was a bit much for my liking. Normally I would say I'm lookin forward to another set, but if its this Gamera-heavy then I don't know what they can do (maybe swimming and battle damaged?).

Overall my favorite in the set is the regular Rebirth Gamera. The Gyaos has a special place though, the more I look at it, the harder it is for me to decide if I like it or hate it.

I love the thread, but where are the least expensive places to find the current lines? I see few links.

I've been thinking this for a while, but is it worth getting the Iwakura Complete Works versions of Godzilla rather than wait for them to release gashapon versions?

Iwakura have done almost every version of Godzilla, the gashapons are still missing a few but nice to know we'll be getting a HG Godzilla (1968) soon.

Sorry I seem to have made an error in my previous message, Iwakura did not make the Godzilla Complete Works figurines I was talking about.

The Godzilla Complete Works figures do look really good. Ive thought about collecting them but as time goes by the prices go up of course. A few years back I started buying the different Iwakura figures and have been able to get quite a few that look so much better than a regular gashapon. Especially their 66 Kumonga. That one freaks out a friend of mine who is terrified of spiders.

Today I received Godzilla '73 in the mail from Complete Works, it does look good and is in scale with most gashapons.

I've seen pics of the '66 Kumonga and it looks a bit big compared to gashapons but I don't know for sure as I don't own it so I could be incorrect, I do own the Iwakura Gabara which scales nicely with the taller gashapons.

I get mine off of ebay. I don't remember the last time I bought from somewhere else. Recently I found the 2 gargantuas for $30. Overall the prices are hit or miss. Of course there are accounts that sells stuff for WAYYYY more than they should, but if you keep looking you can eventually find figures at affordable prices. What I've done is create a search for godzilla gashapons on ebay and I set it for buy it now and sort: time newly listed. I do have to be diligent, though. When I'm actively looking to buy, I check it about once a day. And if it's been a while I just keep going back through the pages (still organized by time newly listed) until I reach a time period that I know Ive checked before. This method has always worked for me and over the last couple years I created a pretty good collection of gashapons, even much older ones. Hopefully this can help you out.

Mandarake is your best bet.

Remember all these are sold at physical machines in Japan. You can’t buy them directly at a store. Sometimes people will sell complete sets for a mild up charge.
