Re: POST YOUR GASHAPONS !!!
Just bought my complete set of the new Godzilla (Sanda, Gaira, -1, Gigan) gashapons. There is an eBay seller by the name "holoimua" that is selling complete sets for $34+Shipping which was $8 for me. Would post a link, but I'm still not allowed to do that. Also just got home from my second Minus One viewing. It was even better a second time.

Re: POST YOUR GASHAPONS !!!
Nice catch! The only listing I'm seeing for the set is over $50 now, so either that seller raised prices or this is a separate listing and the others sold out already (neither of which would surprise me).

Yup, that is it! Thanks for finding it and posting a link. Thought the price wasn't too bad.

Re: POST YOUR GASHAPONS !!!
Saw the new set in the wild! Got all four after getting 7(gonna send out the remainders to some folks). Maybe I’ll post some photos later, but for now I’ll give a quick review.
Set is good! There’s some minor problems, but overall it’s a nice addition.
First, the gashapon are rather large, and have a lot more pieces than usual. Godzilla 2023 has a considerable about of parts, requiring a lot of assembly. Same for Gigan. However, because the pieces are large it’s rather easy to do, unlike the nightmares that are the Gamera legion set or the Mutos. They seem to stick together.
Anyways, -1.0 Godzilla is cool. It’s a nice figure, very detailed, and with the recent appeal of the movie I’m sure a lot of people will want it. Worth it alone to get your hands in the set.
Gigan is fine. There’s been so many Gigan Gashapons there’s not much to say.
Gaira and Sanda are the two chase figures I think most people want, as I don’t think they’ve had gashapons before, and it’s a more inspired choice than let’s say another Gigan. Gaira and Sanda have nice molds, and there’s attention to detail and even scaling. Sanda is slightly larger than Gaira. You can tell the clear difference between their two textures; furry Vs seaweedy.
That being said, there is a problem with their pint. Sanda feels too bright yellow and I wish he was more brown. Gaira is also very dark and green. It’s not a big deal, but the coloring feels slightly off. Then, their eyes aren’t painted. It’s not a huge deal, you probably wouldn’t notice it from a distance, but it feels lacking. I imagine some people will paint them in. Still, I’m very happy to have Sanda and Gaira gashapons; they don’t make many figures of these two classic Toho monsters and other than the YMSF of them I own they’re my sole figures.
Anyways, good start to this series. Glad they’re devoting the plastic that went into those “dioramas” into making larger and more solid figures.
I hope the next set includes:
-Godzilla 2023 (Spines blue or the pre-form)
-Dogora
-Mothra (1961/4)
-Frankenstein!

Not too bad, only 7 to get the whole set blind! I agree 100% with the diorama aspect - use it to make better HGs. Also, I like your taste for the next set, that would be amazing! I can see a Jet Jaguar or Megalon included for their anniversary/short as well.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:13 am Anyways, good start to this series. When you all say diorama, what do you mean? It makes me think of that HG City Scape that I regrettably missed out on, but I don't think that is what you all are referring to.

Re: POST YOUR GASHAPONS !!!
We're referring to the the HG D+ series that lasted from 2019 through 2021. The gashapon gimmick changed a little with these sets: the actual capsule had Godzilla's skin texture and half of the capsule would be turned into a stand where you could place the HG along with some effects pieces (hence the D+ for diorama plus effects). This also pumped up the price from ¥300 to ¥500.cicada.human wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 1:49 pm When you all say diorama, what do you mean? It had 7 regular sets of 4 Kaiju, and 2 EX sets available through Premium Bandai: EX01 with Mothra larva 2019, Mothra 2019, and Rodan 2019; EX02 with was just a very large scale Biollante with vine accessories and light-up feature.
You can still find sets for sale, they aren't too hard to find yet like some of the early HG sets from the 90s.

Re: POST YOUR GASHAPONS !!!
I like that the price stayed the same (500 yen) for a larger figure. To be honest, while I've kept the dioramas...somewhere, I kind of don't care about them. They add a lot of "land real estate" to my collection making everything much harder to display.

I haven't bought one of those gashapon sets since the Final Wars days. Sometimes I'm surprised all over again when I realize they're still doing them.

Ahhhh okay I have some of these from the line with the two GSP figures. Makes sense that is what the D+ stood for. Thanks for answering that.darkcancer wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 2:58 pmWe're referring to the the HG D+ series that lasted from 2019 through 2021. Re: POST YOUR GASHAPONS !!!
So I did end up buying myself the Minus One set. As mentioned by others, these are a bit bigger then the other High Grades I own, almost comparable to the Hyper figurines. The assembly is a little complicated at points too, but once they're together they look great.
The weirdest thing about the set is, Godzilla is the shortest of the bunch. I guess that's a compromise to fit him in the same package (standard Bandai practice), but it's funny-looking all the same.

Could someone post some comparison pics of how much larger these are than most HGs?

I have some ready for just such a request - comparisons with HG D+, as well as the larger 2017 Candy and Mezco figures (with a Playmates for bonus):Tyrannicus wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 8:13 pm Could someone post some comparison pics of how much larger these are than most HGs?

Thanks for the comparison pics! I wonder why they've decided to change their scale now.

Because BANDAI. It's all about making sure that you can never own a complete, comprehensive lineup containing every character in the same scale.

Size DOES matter!
