Re: Marvel Godzilla
Now that all 6 comics have been released, let’s rank them:
One of the best:
Godzilla vs Thor
Great but something prevents it from being in the above tier:
Godzilla vs Spider-man (the lack of an actual fight between the two+how weak the Godzilla symbiote is)
Godzilla vs Avengers (fun and unique premise, but some strange art).
Enjoyable:
Godzilla vs Hulk
Godzilla vs Fantastic Four
Ehhhh:
Godzilla vs X-men (art is good though)

Hmmm Godzilla vs Thor I agree is best.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 2:28 am Now that all 6 comics have been released, let’s rank them:

Godzilla vs Spiderman definitely although I have to disagree about the lack of them fighting holding it back. Let's be real what's Spiderman gonna do? He did the only things he could do against Godzilla in that comic.
I'd rank Godzilla vs Fantastic Four below that. Yes the artwork is terrible but Godzilla at least fights them and the story is solid.
After that is Godzilla vs Hulk. Yes........the fact that these two don't fight pisses me off and I hated what they did to Bruce Banner's character having it where he set up Rick Jones, his best friend, to die in his place as the supposed Hulk. However, the fights in there were good. Godzilla's Hulk transformation was goofy and weird looking but it was still pretty cool. Still not sold on Hedorah being a mix of all those monsters. Especially when some of the monsters mixed into him make no sense like Fin Fang Foom. There are plenty of other Marvel Monsters that would've made much more sense to have used to create the Smog Monster even though he shouldn't be a hybrid to begin with but whatever. Seeing Demonicus again was also cool.
Godzilla vs X-Men was a let down. May as well have been Godzilla vs a giant Super Adaptoid and weird Lego looking robots of his Heisei foes. However, I agree the artwork is good but a lack of drawn out fight when the X-men can obviously hold their own a lot longer against Godzilla than Spiderman is what downgrades it. Hell, we could've at least seen him take on Dark Phoenix, the various powerful Sentinels who's names I can't recall right now, or hell Godzilla fighting Apocalypse would've been bad ass.
Finally, Godzilla vs Avengers. That one was very disappointing. I'm not gonna go into too much detail as my last post already listed my grievances. so I'll keep it short. The Avengers were made as incompetent morons along with Fin Fang Foom. Jet Jaguar's presence offered nothing but fan bait. Finally, annoying dumb teenagers shouldn't be fighting Godzilla. There. Done.
Anyway that's my list for the comics.
A monster? A king? A god? Or is Godzilla all three?

Re: Marvel Godzilla
1) I got to tie Thor and Hulk together. Thor delivered on a grudge match while Hulk if you're not going to have a grudge match was super good, packed with history, monsters and just love that side-glance Godzilla gave Ross at the end of the comic.
2) Fantastic Four. Felt a lot like a throwback to 60s FF, not the greatest artwork but it was fun.
3) Avengers. I like the more humerous take.
4) Spider-Man okay was really fighting on which is the weakest...good thing about Spider-Man is it's less power-up and not so cast heavy and great artwork. Downside writing isn't so hot for me. I dunno just didn't click with me.
5) I think I have X-Men at lowest, though I appreciate the theme of revenge, nod to Raids Again and I really liked the Tri-Sentinel with Godzilla kaiju.

Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe issue 1, pretty good!
Outside of Godzilla looking goofy, it’s amusing to how much this is what we thought the one-shots were going to be. IMO, this issue, despite the variety, was actually a much better version of Godzilla vs Fantastic Four. I’ll elaborate later!

Pretty strong start for the series. Definitely want to see where it ends up going and I hope the 5 issues is enough for the story they want to tell.

Get Your Claws on 'Wolverine-Zilla' with 'Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe' #4
Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #4 arrives in comic book stores on October 15 from Marvel Comics.
07/21/2025
"SKREEONK!" or... "Snikt!"? Fresh from the reveal of the Marvelized "Iron Man-Zilla", Marvel Comics looks to be injecting a little extra adamantium into its kaiju comic book crossover with the reveal of the "Wolverine-Zilla" variant for Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #4!
Arriving in comic shops and online on October 15, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #4 by writer Gerry Duggan and artists Javier Garrón and Paco Medina will feature a main cover by Mark Brooks, a Marvelized "Wolverine-Zilla" Variant by Dave Wachter, and a variant by ACO.
From Marvel Comics' official solicitation:
GODZILLA SMASH! It’s Godzilla versus the rampaging Hulk – and this time, the green goliath has a fistful of science as he takes on the King of the Monsters! Plus, as the two titans clash, the rest of the Marvel Heroes make a desperate ploy to keep the earth-shattering confrontation from literally tearing apart the planet! Trust us, True Believers, you’re not going to want to miss a single page of action – especially not the last page with a reveal so shocking, it might just send Electro into an early retirement!

Re: Marvel Godzilla
Caught up on the remaining two GvM one-shots:
Godzilla vs. Avengers was alright, I liked the way the story was framed and seeing Godzilla beat up Fin Fang Foom was pretty funny. Jet Jaguar and the team of kids that built him was probably the aspect I liked the least, but I didn't hate it. It wasn't as egregious of a Toho monster inclusion as some of the previous issues and it at least gave us some fun dialogue between the characters.
Godzilla vs. Thor though...holy shit: FANTASTIC. My favorite one so far. Delivers on the premise to a T and even though Godzilla gets a power-up later on, it felt like a natural extension of the comic's plot. The ending itself is also extremely badass: Thor and Godzilla destined to fight into eternity is peak comic writing. Loved it.
Missed out on GDTMU #1 at my local store - I either forgot to pull it last week or they didn't have it in stock.
