Considering Godzilla is both Godzilla and Gojira in the Monsterverse and they found a way to call Ghidorah Monster Zero, if Godzilla had a son I could see him being called Minilla and Godzilla Jr at some points.

I'm not doubting anyone but didn't Kaijucifer's sources feed them fake info already?

Like I said the info I posted is likely BS regardless but I like speculating personally.

IIRC, Godzilla Junior has always been a possibility. I recall Wingard, or maybe someone else, that they wanted Godzilla junior at some point. It’s a very obvious thing to do.

To me it feels redundant for them to both have jr sidekicks. I don’t mind little Godzilla but perhaps it would be more interesting to see Kong get incapacitated and for Godzilla to have to go on some sort of adventure with Suko.

Suko was well received I believe plus kid characters and Doug in general were also possible. I can see a Studio going that's what people like bring Godzilla's son in. Minilla is also the last well known Kaiju in Western audiences other than Angurius.

I think its hightly unlikely that they would introduce a baby/junior Godzilla in the sequel to the movie that already introduced a character that's Kong's equivalent. That seems unbelievably redundant.

I don't know if anyone else saw it but a new "leak" popped up on 4Chan claiming the big bad is an original monster inspired by Spacegodzilla because Toho kept shooting down pitches to modernize Spacegodzilla's origins for the MonsterVerse so Greg Sputore gave up on trying to bring him into the MV as he wanted something less restrictive to work with lol

It also says the new monster is made aware of/comes to Earth because it intercepted radio signals scientists sent off into space in the 70's.

Same, it's one of the big reasons I'm expecting Junior sooner or later. It just makes sense from a commercial point of view. Junior and Suko paired up make for great toy sets, children's books, maybe a comic book or even an animated series. It just makes sense. Throw in Doug too and it seems like it'd just print money.

After getting my hopes up with that first "leak" months ago before it got blown to bits, I've reverted back to assuming anything not directly proved by set photos is nothing more than lies or rumors until the test screenings start. Once the test screenings begin we'll start to get our first real plot leaks.

EDIT: It's with that in mind that I give a LOT of credence to the idea of Space Godzilla if only because the cast has hinted it so many times now. I also continue to assume Mothra returns mainly because you don't go out of your way to re-license a character and then not use her again, it seems a given that if no others return we're getting at minimum Godzilla, Kong, and Mothra.

I think we're getting Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, and SpaceGodzilla. If we're really lucky, we'll get Rodan back too. Maybe we'll get Godzilla Jr and Moguera also in a 1% chance (in case our new director is a huge SpaceGodzilla film fanboy, and is able to persuade Legendary).

Agreed. There continues to be a constantly repeated meme of "Toho won't LET anyone do X" which was true of them 15 or 20 years ago but not so much any time recently. You see it whenever Gamera comes up and someone will chime in with "Toho doesn't want a Gamera crossover" and will cite when they shot down the idea literally 25 years ago as if nothing is any different now.

I don’t see how Toho is bring restrictive with SpaceGodzilla’s rights. Hell, it seems apart from Mothra Toho is still making Legendary use Ghidorah and Rodan in their Monsterverse stuff, like, they literally seek to have a big role in Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong 2. Maybe it’s different because it’s comics, but it shows that Toho is willing to let Legendary use the rights of their monsters. Maybe they are willing to give them the rights of other monsters too. Not saying that I want SpaceGodzilla, hell if this leak is true I’ll be happy to have a copy at instead, but saying TOHO is being pick-up when they are letting Legendary still use Mothra, Ghidorah and Rodan Seems Strange.

Junior, Baby, Little, Infant, Child, any descriptor of a Godzilla offspring with neotenic features that make him look defenseless and as adorable as a puppy until he grows is the perfect way to sell him. 25 foot tall baby Godzilla.

The idea of the name "Minilla" making the cut and not Junior sounds plausible. I could also see Toho giving Legendary some leeway with the design if they think the name recognition matters.

But they might as well just call him Junior if they aren't going to try to make him vaguely resemble Minilla. That's assuming any of this is even true.

I feel the exact opposite. Saying minilla out loud without trying to make a Marvel joke out of it sounds implausible. Godzilla Junior. Baby Godzilla. Little Godzilla. These work better because they arent names. Theyre descriptors of the stages in the life cycle of Godzilla, cleverly made to also be a character that is called Godzilla. Minilla is Minilla. And only Showa fans really care that much. Marketability and workability balance is key here. Suko has a name, yet the film only ever calls him Mini Kong. Same applies here.

Why not all of the above and have characters reference him throughout the movie as Minilla, "Baby" Godzilla, and Godzilla Jr.

“More like a Godzilla junior, no wait, a Minizilla, a Minilla if you will”.
