I could honestly believe the Godzilla fighting the villain on the moon bit (I could see Legendary reveal its some Monarch/government cover up that there is actually oxygen on the moon & its breathable).
But the "leak" lost me at extras being able to see concept art on set & Doug turning into Godzilla Jr./Minilla lol

I have my doubts about this leak.

No, wait! I have a very reputable source that tells me that the villain Titan can turn intangible, so Monarch builds Kong a specialized pair of lenses that allow him to track its movements. Like I said, my guy is very credible. He works for the government.Chaos Reincarnation wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 5:26 pm Im not believing any leak this far away from the movie

Honestly, that “leak” is most likely fake, but really doesn’t have anything that would be shocking or impossible to see. Sounds like a pretty logical thing to be honest. Would not be surprised if Godzilla fighting some monster on the Moon does happen. It would be interesting visually, and give the film more of a unique identity.
Would be cool if they actually went to the dark side or something.

I actually had been going to say Godzilla got the lenses, but then I remembered that episode.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 7:28 pmMC_Lovecraft wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 5:34 pm No, wait! Are we sure that they aren't just drawing a chibi looking Godzilla? Because that's what it looks like to me.BurningCoolMan wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 9:13 pm https://x.com/Mr_goji54/status/1938655402624778700

So this movie is just going to be a ripoff of Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla? Yay

Don't threaten me with a good time!

You know, the more I think about it, the more an "on the Moon" finale makes a cockeyed kind of sense. Obviously, there's the precedent set by Godzilla vs. Monster Zero, but moreover, since we already have the Hollow Earth, why not go even pulpy-er and mix some Planetary Romance stylings in, too? Godzilla of Mars!

Re: The "Godzilla x Kong: Supernova" News, Discussion & Speculation Thread
Ya know, I had resigned myself to the idea that we were done with the very campy and schlocky styled Monsterverse post GxK: TNE.
Yeah, I know the studios would want the next film to be somewhat similar, considering the success of that film and GvK. But considering we have a new director, different writers, just a whole new team, I made peace with the thought that maybe TNE was the best attempt I’d get to see at the Monsterverse going full, pulpy fun.
The title reveal of GxK: Supernova was a very pleasant surprise for me. The more I’ve thought on the possibilities for the movie, and with the thoughts of events like Godzilla/Kong on the moon and stuff, I’m starting to get my hopes up that I haven’t seen the last of the wacky, pulpy era of the Monsterverse. If I get my wish, this may be the best attempt at that yet!

I dont know why anyone would think Legendary would put the breaks on the nonsense when thats what seems to be popular.

Like LSD said, if there's any movie you're gonna "remake", SpaceG ain't a bad pick. Considering the movie is terrible. Either way it's not going to be a 1:1 remake, I doubt it'll even have much in common with the Heisei flick beyond maybe SpaceG himself being there. It's not like its a very celebrated or remembered film outside of that specific monster
Also, I think that "nonsense" stuff is a wider trend in action-comic movies in the US lately, probably as a response to overly complex/serious stuff from the past two decades or so. I definitely prefer wacky colorful fluff to faux-deep edgy. The last movie's zany shyt was so much more memorable and fun IMO than pretty much anything from KOTM or G'14. Probably an opinion that'll get me roasted but I'll stand by it

Honestly, with Space Godzilla and Little G being in the film; This universe is dead.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:54 pm I dont know why anyone would think Legendary would put the breaks on the nonsense when thats what seems to be popular.

Re: The "Godzilla x Kong: Supernova" News, Discussion & Speculation Thread
I meant to respond to a quote by one of the staff recently, but I’d like to point out “relatable” doesn’t equate to greatness or interesting. Relatable often feels like a shorthand for making something bland and palatable for everyone, in order to garnish sympathy and emotions. This isn’t always a bad thing, and some things do it well. Godzilla Minus One is a great example, although I’d argue that the film is more interesting because it chooses to focus on Shikishima’s regret and possible guilt in conjunction to simple revenge on Godzilla.
I’ll get some people going “ugh not again”, but think about Rando Yaguchi in Shin Godzilla. In many ways, he’s extremely unlikeable and unrelatable. That’s fine, it’s more interesting. I like experiencing media that is very different from my own experience and comfort zone.
Likewise, a lot of Godzilla movies have a lot of great characters, but many western audiences (or film critics) seem preoccupied with the idea that if a character has less agency or character development, it’s bad writing.
I hope I’m wrong, but a big fear I have with Supernova is that they’ll learn the wrong lessons from -1.0 and instead focus on a boring family drama like KOTM or parts of G14. GVK knew it was schlocky, and actually managed to tell a nice and compelling story between Jia and Kong.

The box office success for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire would say otherwise lolMoonlightSYXXX wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 10:54 pmHonestly, with Space Godzilla and Little G being in the film; This universe is dead.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:54 pm I dont know why anyone would think Legendary would put the breaks on the nonsense when thats what seems to be popular.
If the campy stuff just isn't your thing, stick with the Minus One stuff I guess
Personally, I'm completely on board with Team Campy. Campy is the hot thing right now (ex. the upcoming Superman). It would be hard for this franchise to go back to the serious tone from 2014 when you give Kong a robot glove & Godzilla a pink glowup.
Doesn't mean we can't have compelling or (at minimum) interesting human stories in these type of films. Hopefully Grant Sputore can deliver on that front.

Feel like SpaceG is borderline confirmed, I believe a bunch of the crew were reposting SpaceG fan art and the such lately. Though that could also be nothing ofc.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:21 amBut was this even confirmed or are people still making assumptions?MoonlightSYXXX wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 10:54 pmHonestly, with Space Godzilla and Little G being in the film; This universe is dead.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:54 pm I dont know why anyone would think Legendary would put the breaks on the nonsense when thats what seems to be popular.
