Re: Giant Monster Movies on Home Video
Has anyone picked up Umbrella Entertainment's King Kong Lives Blu-ray? If so, is it worth buying? I didn't realize until five minutes ago that this release has been out. I hadn't heard anything since the initial announcement like a year ago.

On another note, I also still haven't found out where this Blu-ray release of Journey to the Center of the Earth I'm getting from Severin Films will be the original Spanish version with optional and accurate English subtitles, the English-dubbed U.S. version titled Where Time Began, or a combination of both.

I just looked it up, it's English only. Maybe it'll be the U.S. version titled Where Time Began.

Re: Giant Monster Movies on Home Video
It just arrived today! I'll keep you posted.
UPDATE: This Blu-ray came with reversable cover art and a black Blu-ray box. How stupid can they get? A clear, or at least a blue Blu-ray box is needed here.
Fortunately, I was able to switch this box with a Blu-ray in a blue box that didn't have reversable cover art, although I would've preferred a clear one.

Re: Giant Monster Movies on Home Video
Now the only thing I've got to find out about my new Blu-ray purchase is if it's the uncut European version of the film just as the previous DVD release of it was. Can anyone help me out here, please?
All that I know about both of them is that they both had the same poster art for the film, but with different titles and cover sleeve designs.
Now that I think of it, which company released it on DVD in 2006 anyway? Some help here too, please?
UPDATE: My Blu-ray version's 90 minutes long and the U.S. theatrical release was 87 minutes long. So this version is the uncut European one after all.

Re: Giant Monster Movies on Home Video
I just found another film that's been forgotten: Carnosaur 3: Primal Species. Is this one even available on home video at this time?
Btw, Shin Ultraman was also released by Raven Banner on DVD/Blu-ray. So I think that should be included, too.

Kino Lorber is re-releasing both Food of the Gods and Empire of the Ants as part of their Kino Cult line. Both were initially released as part of separate double features by Shout.

Another thing I need to buy that I don't need to buy! I've never seen Reptilicus, but it's been on my radar since the '90s. I saw the trailer a hundred times on one of those "famous dinosaurs of the movies" type VHS tapes.

Ordered it already! I've been waiting for this one for years! Questions, though:Tyrant_Lizard_King wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:03 pm Vinegar Syndrome is releasing Reptilicus in 4K including the bluray debut of the original Danish cut.

*Is the Danish version going to have optional and accurate English subtitles (specifically accurate)?
*Is the U.S. version going to be on Blu-ray with the Danish version also, or is it just going to be on the 4K HD disc only?

We won't know how accurate they are until the disc comes out, but the website lists newly-translated subtitles.
US version looks to have its own disc, the website lists 1x UHD disc and 2x Blu-rays.

I have an enormous amount of fondness for Reptilicus. Very happy to get both cuts!

Thanks a lot! I'm really pumped for this one now! This means that I'll have quality Blu-ray releases of the three films that I'll call "the 1961 kaiju trilogy" - Gorgo, Konga, and Reptilicus (the order is alphabetical, btw, but that doesn't mean anything special in this case).UltramanGoji wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 4:58 amWe won't know how accurate they are until the disc comes out, but the website lists newly-translated subtitles.

Does anyone have the UPC for this?
Hoping that Konga gets a new release like this so we can complete the EuroKaiju trilogy.

Konga was released on Blu-ray by Kino Lorber Studio Classics, and so was Yongary, Monster from the Deep. From what I've heard, they're very good, and they're definitely not another bargain basement/fly by night video company.Mr. Yellow wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 4:44 pm Does anyone have the UPC for this?

Yes I know, but Konga didn't have all the bells and whistles.mikelcho wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 5:43 pmKonga was released on Blu-ray by Kino Lorber Studio Classics, and so was Yongary, Monster from the Deep. You do have a point there, I have to admit. Maybe Vinegar Syndrome will release that film someday. When and if they do, I'll be ready for it.Mr. Yellow wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 5:52 pmYes I know, but Konga didn't have all the bells and whistles.mikelcho wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 5:43 pmKonga was released on Blu-ray by Kino Lorber Studio Classics, and so was Yongary, Monster from the Deep. Hmm, a bit torn on whether or not to get this. On one hand I do love Reptillicus and have more than a passing nostalgia for it - on the other I already have it on bluray as part of the combo with Tentacles I think, and I don't have a 4K player so this purchase would only be for the normal blurays. Knowing that, would you still say this is a substantial upgrade from that older release?
I unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and without a doubt hate Godzilla vs Kong.

Yes, the fact that it has the complete Danish version alone is fantastic.Vakanai wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:31 pm Hmm, a bit torn on whether or not to get this.
