Would be both a good capper for Anno & Higuchi's Shin project, plus what better way to have two of the most iconic Japanese pop figures face-off? The fact that both characters are so phenomenally powerful would make for a good match, plus I think it would take very little massaging for the two continuities to mesh.
As a short film to advertise the movie like the God Warrior short I'd be all for it. But I think there's alot lost in wasting the sequel by making it a vs film, especially a crossover like that.
There is a fan film with the Sh figures of both thst I feel does the crossover best.

Godzilla can't be stopped and Ultraman pushes him to his 5th form. Ultraman has no other choice but to fly Godzilla into Space. Godzilla unleashes his atomic breath point blank causing Ultraman to go beyond his limit.

Ultraman runs out of power and disappears but by scarficing himself he gets Godzilla out into Space saving humanity.

I feel it was true to both characters.

My Cinemark actually has Shin Godzilla showings in D-box! You know, where the seat moves and vibrates and such!

Tempting. Don't know if I'll actually like this. Maybe if I do a second screening?

I know I'm a little late on this, but on the rumors of a Shin Godzilla sequel, I would rather wait until we get an actual confirmed announcement from Toho before flipping my shit.

If you've already seen the movie a few times why not?

I have no experience with this format. Maybe it's real uncomfortable, or just annoying?

So, this news is actually a bit of an odd case.

It comes from Toho in that the info comes from an interview with their CEO, complete with a Bloomberg photo portrait and all. But it doesn't confirm the film.

That word "potential" is very ambiguous, but it is something their CEO apparently feels comfortable mentioning to the international press.

I agree it's good not to "flip shit" just yet. But this is more than just a rumor.

Timing wise, it’s interesting because with Shinji Higuchi being at comic con this week for the Godzilla panel, I could see an announcement being made there.

Yeah, every time we think it’s a good time to announce something it typically never does. You never know though.

But what if…they add a post-credit scene to the 4K release. Or something like The End…For Now

I basically gave up on the idea of a Shin sequel as soon as we found out Minus was going to be something new. It would be absolutely bizarre if it happened now. Three separate ongoing live action Godzilla film series active at once? What? How? Why? We don't get things like that in this fandom.

Well my jist is they're not technically gonna happen at the same time for all we know the next Godzilla could be the last film Yamazaki could be able to do for awhile considering how busy he's gonna be with Grandgear and whatever else happens after than and in that context revisiting Shin makes sense. The other way to look at it is the Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider are treated separately from there mainline stuff so Shin Godzilla may be treated the same way in regards to the larger franchise.

Minus One and Shin are technically the same series of films. In theory Toho would have told two stories so far in their Reiwa era as opposed to 1 in the SHowa, 1 in Heisei and 5 in the Millennium series.

Toho has to be careful not overdo it. We have Supernova, a sequel to Minus One, potential Shin Godzilla sequel and unknown project with southeast Asia.

I’m all for more “Shin Universe” stuff, but personally would prefer a sequel to Shin Ultraman if it were up to me. It just feels like there is way more to play with there, both in terms of story and monster action.

I wouldn't worry about Toho overdoing it since we may not get 3rd Yamazaki helmed film for awhile and Shin is radically different and the MonsterVerse has always been separate and the SEA project may not even be a movie. Compared to something like Ultraman, Toho's been very conservative with Godzilla

There's little threat in overdoing it as people mentioned becasue Shin, Minus one and the MV are all radicaly different and we don't know if the SE project is even Godzilla but assuming it is and is a movie that will likely be different as well.

Heisei and Millennium were more or less all the same movies with little variance between them.

The Kiryu saga Godzilla could be the same one from G2k and GxM and nothing would really change about those movies for example.

I look this with both sides. for one Godzilla popularity has raisin, but not MCU level yet. Toho see this as a opportunity push more content worldwide while its still hot and I am 100% for it however, diminish return will always be a factor if they over doing in short matter.
