Two things:
-First, I don’t like the reoccurring narrative that Giant Condor won because it was a meme/funny. Giant Condor won because the bulk of smarter people in this fanbase recognize that it’s probably the only chance for an MMS to be made of the creature, and that others have a future chance to win anyways. Yes it’s funny, but don’t chalk it solely up to it being silly.

-Two, HB is an eventuality, at this rate. I agree things will be tricker than Giant Condor, but bear in mind HB Godzilla actually recently got some merch, so it’s not an impossibility. They very clearly enjoy making figures of obscure incarnations of Godzilla (see Cybot) and it’ll eventually get there, assuming the franchise doesn’t implode. Keep in mind, when I say it’s an eventuality, I don’t mean next week, or this year. It’ll happen when Toho decides to milk that vein.

-Marvel Godzilla is a possibility as well.

I still dont think the HB pr Marvel figures are EVER happening in the MMS. Period.

Look at what Bandai has done over the past 40 years. Look what they're doing now. What really gives people the idea that one day this toy line, which is designed for Japabeae consumers, is going to do Godzilla variants based on things like the old Marvel comics or the HB show? Theres no market for that in Japan. Bandai NEVER goes that far out of the box.

And again, aside from YMSF, can someone name me any figures from Japanes manufacturers (meant for Japanese consumers) of those Godzillas?

People seemed to be acting like Bandai has been thinking outside the box lately and that this stuff is, to quote LSD, an eventually. Its not. Because NOTHING they're doing indicates this. Most of this year's toys have been extremely safe, almost all of it from extremely marketable mainline Godzilla movies.

I'll believe this has any chance of happening when Bandai indicates in even a small way that it could. They wont even do monsters outside the Godzilla series (Frankenstein, Gargantuas, Yog trio, Dogora, etc).

While I agree, the Boaty McBoatFace effect exists, and I'd be stunned if some of the GC votes weren't attributable to that.

Again, these seem obvious S7 products off the bat. For Bandai to do them, I would still think a resurgence of BC or another US-targeted line would precede it rather than MMS. If more MMS spinoff sublines happen, maybe, but I agree with Legion on this that it does seem too out of the box as compared to an alternate pose for a previously standard MMS.

Well, we both know they did Kameobas, even if just an SOS-specific deceased version. Also, they did do Sanda, Gaira, and pops Frankenstein not too long ago under Bangaichi while MMS was already established. Yes, it wasn't in MMS, but they did a release.

Dogora is a longtime want. I'd love to see something from Bandai, but Bangaichi seems to have dried up as a line, so I don't see an outlet beyond MMS, and I do think it fits in the line.

I dunno, not that it's a big argument per se but I think both are true. It's a rare chance at a rare monster but it's also a total joke of a character to get produced, y'know? I'm curious to see if it'll sell as well as the poll might suggest, lol, I can't really imagine anyone but super-ultra-die-hards are gonna go for "Giant Condor". Course it's ultimately a good thing for those collectors to get such a weird character, even if it is a bit of a meme. And I suppose that's what the more exclusive MMS sublines are for, anyway.

On the flipside... if not many people go for Giant Condor, that could negatively impact other weirdo monsters chances of getting made. Just throwing ideas though.

Totally unrelated but I really wish MMS cared a bit more about the Monsterverse stuff. I wanna see EvoGoji get a cool posing variant.

I don't think its something worth worrying about. Giant Condor isnt just going to be a Godzilla Store exclusive, but a Godzilla Store exclusive that only exists because it won an annual poll. That really makes it's own thing, and it's not something that's going to have to prove itself at retail. And if Bandai had a problem with the idea of this Toy's existance being detrimental, they wouldn't have put it on the poll in the first place.

And additionally, Giant Condor having very little screen time doesnt make it a "weirdo monster". Again, it's a creature that fought Godzilla in a classic mainline Godzilla movie. In fact, TWO mainline Godzilla movies. Marmit did a full size version of it in the VP line a long time ago, and X-Plus includd one with an Ebirah as a RIC exclusive. There's precedent for this character being released, as infrequent as it has been. It's existance, at least in my opinion, doesn't validate the idea that we're ever going to get lots of far more older, obscure stuff, and (AGAIN) certainly not things from American cartoons or comics from the 1970s.

Oh, look, it’s a cover for a Godzilla comic that has the HB design… No mention of HB. Toho owns the design.

MMS Godzooky when?

And its an American comic. Get back to me when we start seeing the HB Godzilla pop up on Japanese merchandise. (Again, ignoring YMSF)

I’d much rather Bandai finish making their Japanese suits before making an animated show of a Godzilla that reminds me more of a dragon than anything. There’s still so much Bandai needs to do with the Showa era

HB Godzilla MMS isn't out of the picture at all. The fact we've been getting merch of HB Godzilla now for some time, even.
But has any of it been from Japan? (Not counting YMSF)
Good question. Don't know.

Did that comic carry over the names and likenesses of the HB series human characters? If not, that may speak to whether Toho has those rights versus just Godzilla and Godzooky as they had appeared.

Again, I can't see either appearing in the main MMS line.

The way that article is written is not so definitive that the rights to all the characters and/or the scripts within it are Toho's but more of the series as theirs as distributable content. It may mean the rest too, but it's not as specific as most are wondering.

Taken from Beast of the East Collectibles FB listing...
Bandai has also announce the start of the new Movie Monster Giga Figure line of figures in the 8 inch scale!

-Bandai movie monster burning godzilla 2019 $31.99 November 2025 release.

-Bandai movie monster mechagodzilla heavy arms Tokyo S.O.S. 2.0 $31.99 January 2026 release.

-Bandai movie monster mothra larva twin set $29.99 November 2025 release.

-Bandai Giga Movie Monster Destroyah $74.99 November 2025 release.

-Bandai movie monster godzilla 2004 Dynamite $33.99 February 2026 release
...I dont think I'll be ordering any of this. Im sure people will be thrilled about the $75 8" Destoryer, but everything else is really meh. What was I saying about them being really safe lately?

Those are our retail figures until winter of next year, guys. Kinda lame.

Still, thank you for that information!

The new 2019 Burning Godzilla renders the overpriced Blu-ray box version kinda obsolete and I wonder if the Mothra Larvae set is similar to the 2003 8" MMS larvae or even the Showa versions...?

Nice they didn't cancel the GIGA subline after all. There's now a little hope that after Destoroyah that line may finally spawn vinyls of other larger characters which are more in scale with the 6" Godzillas like Showa Hedorah, Biollante or any variant of Ghidorah.

Claws crossed ~ :g2k:

Same here Legion none of these interest me at all, lol. How many Kiryus do we need. Destoroyah sounds neat and I'm sure he'll look great but the BC is still my winner cause of that bonkers price tag, even if the quality sort of justifies it. I suppose it is a "Godzilla gap year", maybe they're calming down on interesting releases cause of that

Bandai already has a 6" 2003 larva ready to go. They released one back in 2018.

So there's a lot of mold reuse/retooling happening in the coming months.
