50s: Gojira. Goes without saying.
60s: Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster.
70s: Terror of MechaGodzilla.
80s: The Return of Godzilla.
90s: Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla 2.
2000s: Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla.
2010s: Shin Godzilla.
2020s: Godzilla Minus One.

50s: Gojira, obviously
60s: Probably Godzilla Vs Ebirah. Feel like it really encapsulates the fun and adventurous spirit of the era.
70s: ToMG, no question - though, I think the 70s is my overall favorite Godzilla era. Like Ebirah, ToMG sort of sums up the era, but also injects a lot more gravitas and interest than most of the preceding 70s flicks.
80s: Godzilla 1985, really amazing atmosphere, dated in just the right way.
90s: Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla 2 - hard to explain, but it really hits all the right notes, without much of the grey boring stuff that makes Heisei a little dreary to me.
Y2K: GMK, again, obviously
10s: Probably Shin; it does a good job representing the weird, post-finale experimentation of the time, while also being pretty amazing in its own right. I think GvK is also a good contender, though - it never reaches the highs of Shin but I also think it's probably the most entertaining movie of the era.
20s: I mean, I guess Minus One? Seems a little too early to say. Just like before I also think GxK has a bit more to offer in terms of being a satisfyingly entertaining kaiju flick

How about something fun? Here's the worst...

50s I'm skipping cuz it's unfair...
60s... This one's hard. None of them are that bad, at all... well, except for one, and it's really just a bit boring. I'm unfortunately gonna have to go with Destroy All Monsters since it's probably the most padded movie to ever exist. The good stuff's amazing, the rest... is certainly a movie.
70s: I really don't think any of them are especially bad. Godzilla Vs Megalon's lack of substantial plot definitely makes it the "worst", but at least it's campy enough to stay entertaining. You could definitely make a case for Vs Gigan being way, way too boring and small-scale considering how creative it all sounds on paper, but I dunno - at least the monster stuff saves it, and it's got some narm-charm, even thoughn it doesn't take any of it's ideas far enough to stick the landing.
80s: Unfair again, LOL. Pass. But Vs Biollante is definitely a little more uninteresting than people give it credit for. Military fantasy stuff doesn't speak to me.
90s: SpaceGodzilla by a mile. The first Godzilla picture to cinematically portray a man's bare ass. I recall Vs Mothra also being a snore, but I can't say I've seen it more than maybe twice.
Y2K: Vs Megaguirus. Feels like that movie hardly even exists. It's like a G2000 DLC expansion pack.
10s: Sorry guys, I gotta say G'14 - Oh wait, the anime movies happened! Any of those. What a waste.
20s: Pass. So far, both have been a lot of fun, and offer great variety.

That sounds pretty fun, actually.

50s: Godzilla Raids Again.
60s: All Monsters Attack.
70s: Godzilla vs. Megalon.
80s: Godzilla vs. Biollante. I like the movie, but it's either TROG or it, and I far prefer TROG.
90s: Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah or Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla.
00s: Godzilla vs. Megaguirus.
10s: Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle.
20s: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

The worst:

1950s: Abstain because there's never a good reason to be mean to GRA.

1960s: Like... it's Godzilla's Revenge. I feel like I need to take a shower after typing that, but it's honest. Only because half the movie is stock footage, of course. The execution is still way better than it had to be, but the others stand taller just for being completely-ish original movies.

1970s: Godzilla vs. Megalon. The final battle is glorious when it isn't stock footage, and the dam scene is cool, but the rest of the movie barely exists.

1980s: Oof. Return of Godzilla just because I have to pick something. It does honestly lose points for having broadly weaker human characters and a worse Godzilla suit.

1990s: Assuming we exclude GINO, it's Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla. Boring, half-baked slop.

2000s: Tokyo SOS. Having great effects can't mask its lazy derivative story.

2010s: Throw a dart at an Anime Trilogy movie. It doesn't matter which one you hit.

2020s: Godzilla vs. Kong. I've mostly made peace with it as a terrible followup to KOTM's setting, but it still has a goofy mess of a human story and Mechagodzilla feels poorly implemented.

The Worst:
1950s - Godzilla Raids Again
1960s - All Monsters Attack
1970s - Godzilla vs. Megalon
1980s - Godzilla vs. Biollante (probably the only controversial pick here but I'm in the camp that prefers RoG)
1990s - Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla / Godzilla '98 (they can both go)
2000s - Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
2010s - Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle
2020s - Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

The worst:
50s: Godzilla Raids Again (1955)
60s: All Monsters Attack (1969)
70s: Godzilla vs Megalon (1973)
80s: Return of Godzilla (1984) (The only genuinely good movie on this list)
90s: Godzilla (1998)
2000s: Godzilla vs Megaguirus (2000)
2010s: Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle (2018)
2020s: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
"[GxK] feels like a proof of concept for Legendary to make a film entirely by AI. Monster fights are the one thing it offers and it fucks them mostly too, every other aspect of the film is dogshit and it seems to genuinely mock its audience for watching it."

For the worst:
50s- I want to say Varan because GRA isn't that bad, but since this is Godzilla films, I have to pick GRA.
60s- All Monsters Attack.
70s- G vs Megalon is a fun movie, but it's the weakest of the decade.
80s- None. I like both.
90s- G98
00s- GFW
10s- The anime trilogy
20s- I have a hard time picking one, so abstain.
The problem with doing nothing is that you never know when you're finished.

Abstaining from the 50s and the 80s.
60s- Godzilla's Revenge, which I actually like for what it is, but what it is can't compare to anything else in this decade. Close second would probably be Sea Monster, only because of the shoddy FX, maybe Destroy All Monsters because of the repetitious plot and pacing issues. To be clear I love every 60s film, shocking.
70s- Megalon. I appreciate it more now but I feel like, as a kid, you either latch on to this one or Gigan if you're looking for pure 70s superhero Godzilla, and for me it was Gigan.
90s- G98. I don't hate it but it's such a bad adaptation lmao. Honorable mention to Destroyah for some of the lazy FX hampering the grand finale to the VS series.
'00s- Tokyo SOS. Everything I dislike about GXMG but worse.
'10s- King of the Monsters. I'll take the misfire of the anime trilogy over movies like this any day. I don't totally hate it though.
'20s- so far, GXK. Worst SFX of the Monsterverse by far, which puts it below GVK. GVK was at least a step up from KOTM, FX-wise.
The aliens' idea to use humanity's trust was frightening. But have no fear, this is a tale of the far distant future. What? Why's that, you ask? Because we humans still don't trust each other enough for aliens to prey on us that way.

The best:

50s: Godzilla
60s: Mothra vs Godzilla
70s: Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla
80s: Godzilla vs Biollante
90s: Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
2000s: GMK
2010s: Godzilla: King of the Monsters
2020s: Minus One

The worst:

50s: Godzilla Raids Again
60s: King Kong vs Godzilla
70s: Godzilla vs Megalon
80s: Return of Godzilla
90s: Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla
2000s: Godzilla vs Megaguirus
2010s: Godzilla: City on the edge of battle
2020s: Godzilla vs Kong

For the record, some of the "worst" rankings are only on there due to lack of other options, not because I personally dislike the film (i.e Return of Godzilla).
