That should be enough justification to bring him back one day. For Example, he could easiliy show up at some point in the Showa and Kiryu timelies.

The problem with doing nothing is that you never know when you're finished.
It was too dark to see properly. He was more like a beast than a human being.

This movie and The James Bond film No Time to Die are very much analogous to one another in their respective series. Both are made to mark the end of an particular era, both have their protagonist die in the end while undergoing an affliction slowly killing them and are survived by a child of theirs. On top of that, both are generally polarizing entries.

Rewatched it again...Generally not exciting film, kinda like watching your pet slowly die but the pacing is rough.
Godzilla's final battle really didn't live up to the hype, like a Superman vs Doomsday fight.
His comeback wasn't satisfying either.
Best parts were Godzilla's brief interactions with Junior.
Not into the crabs.
Wish the Aunt was in it more.

It always surprises me just how forgettable this one really is. I only ever remember the really wicked visuals, personally. Though that said there's a ton of unusually bad effects in the movie too

Does this mean what I think it does? Is the James Bond saga dead after all these years?LegendZilla wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 12:36 pm This movie and The James Bond film No Time to Die are very much analogous to one another in their respective series. Seconding this, but the music is awesome too. Heisei VFX is very hit or miss but I do like just how over-the-top the beams are this time around. GvMG2 and GvD are exempt from my hatred of 'beam wars' lol.Mechagigan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 4:37 pm I only ever remember the really wicked visuals, personally.

If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels

I won´t criticize the special effects. If a kaiju movie has a weakness like this, I can focus on the positive elements that let me enjoy the movie.
It has an absolute dense atmosphere and it gives you the feeling: If humanity don´t come up with a good plan, they will perish this time.
In my opinion there were only 2 other films that reached that grade of intensity to the related situation: Godzilla vs Gigan and Gorath

None of it comes across all that dire when that end of the world talk is nothing but lip service from characters who spend most of their screentime standing around in board rooms watching the action happen from the safety of their monitors. Feels a lot like GKOTM in that regard.Gailah 1966 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 6:11 am I won´t criticize the special effects. And it terms of trying ignore bad effects, thats really hard to do when the very first effects seqence includes shots of Godzilla storming through Hong Kong while people casually walk around like nothing is happening.

The other way around, I'd say. KOTM was clearly taking notes from GvD, not just with reusing Burning Godzilla but also in the characters monitoring the action and narrating for the monsters with exposition dumps.Kagutaba wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 8:08 am None of it comes across all that dire when that end of the world talk is nothing but lip service from characters who spend most of their screentime standing around in board rooms watching the action happen from the safety of their monitors. Well, yes and no. Hedorah is a serious thread and the mind knows that. But the pictures at the end showing some teenagers getting killed. It´s a bad thing of course but nothing that ends humanity.edgaguirus wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 12:33 pmI would add a third; G vs HedorahGailah 1966 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 6:11 am

Sure, it´s a "weakness" and my solution to enjoy this scene was very simple. That´s one kind of fallacy. No matter where people are watching the situation from. If Godzilla explodes, the world ends. If Godzilla melts, the world ends. It doesn´t matter if you are standing next to him or on the other side of the planet. There is no safety - safety is an illusion.Kagutaba wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 8:08 amNone of it comes across all that dire when that end of the world talk is nothing but lip service from characters who spend most of their screentime standing around in board rooms watching the action happen from the safety of their monitors. Re: Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995)
My point was the threat never comes across, I need more than characters standing around, rather bored, reminding us that it could happen.
