In regards to Showa films, DAM would be a good candidate and the most logical choice for the next "Completion" Hobby Japan book(Though GvsMonster Zero is a strong possibility as well following the recent GTTHM Completion book). For the Millennium films, perhaps G2K/vsMegaguirus (though personally I'd have zero interest in that). Only GvsMothra is left from the Heisei era.

And the next Completion book iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis... Gunhed.

Interesting choice, considering there's already a Gunhed Perfection book already out there.

Well, I've never heard of that movie before. Was it big in Japan?

What a let down -_-

Exactly. Not sure why there's a need for another similar style of book.

It was released in 1989 (same year as Biollante), and has a popular cult status in Japan (similar to Blade Runner here), and Kawakita did the SFX for it.

It was based on one of the finalist scripts in TOHO's story contest ideas for the next Godzilla film following G85 (GvsBiollante won out, and the runner up story was reworked into Gunhed: https://www.tohokingdom.com/cutting_room/godzilla2.htm )

I saw it roughly 12-13 years ago...it's "ok"...nothing special and bit forgettable IMHO and, quite frankly, happy TOHO chose to go with the Biollante story over it for the next G film following G85.

it's kind of a cult movie. The Mechs and special effects are looked back on fondly today but the movie itself isn't that great.

The main robot itself also was recently in a Super Robot Wars game and I think Japan just had a recent blu-ray release of it. ADV put this out here in the states too, it's worth checking out if you wanna see Kawakitas effects on a smaller scale.

Hmm... Can't imagine the early drafts would have anything too interesting, but may preorder anyway just because these books have always been top notch.

Maybe now we'll know if the Mothra rumor was true or not.

Ooh, Mothra was planned for the movie at some point? I suppose that'd make sense.

I'd have had Godzilla be accompanied by Anguirus and Varan in the film, to differentiate from the prior movie (not just the sams kaiju again).

Or have Godzilla and a newly formed adult Mothra team up, which hadn't occured yet in the franchise at that point.

I've heard people say Mothra was planned but nothing super credible.

Rodan and Godzilla had to be the ones here because the entire Xillian plan relies on those two being the ones that beat Ghidorah.
