The Godzilla Minus novelization is apparently getting translated for an American release. Press release from the publisher.

While it’s a gross oversimplification, you’re right that ultimately the plot hinges on revenge against Godzilla. However there’s a lot of pretty distinct environmental and character moments that change them up.

The key one, is that Shikishima is seemingly content enough to forget Godzilla the instant he has a family about a 3rd through the film. I’m not sure if I like Shikishima’s weird plane more or Kiryu as what they both pilot. Relative to the Godzilla franchise a simple plane is a bit more unique and personal. Sure enough Kiryu would go on to be piloted by others.

But this is what a lot of other people have pointed out when calling Minus One a bit simplistic. It’s not groundbreaking in terms of characters, just execution.

I do agree with your last point LSD....it's simplistic, classic....just done very well. Nothing wrong with that, but it does give me concern about what can/will be done for the next one.

I might crash out if Noriko Oishi becomes Biollante or something. :sigh:

Fantastic news! I may be wrong, but I believe there was a Japanese audiobook version of this novelization and I would LOVE for that to get a English translation as well! Hopefully this publisher will then publish official English translations of the Monster Planet prequels and the Singulair Point novelization!

I just re-watched this movie and noticed Square-Enix show up in the end credits. Can anyone specify what role they had in the production?

I'm calling it. 10-15 years from now, people will be calling this movie's effects dated.

Alright. Someone remember this and let’s all check back in 10-15 years.

I showed my sister Godzilla-1 and by the time we got to the scene of Godzilla walking off after nuking Ginza she said "Where's the little Godzilla who's like a good guy?!", she was probably referencing Minilla as she saw Godzilla's Revenge and Final Wars when she was much younger.

One thing I appretiate about this film is that it feels like it was tailor made as an alternative for people who weren't quite satisfied with Shin. It's the one time I'm glad we got yet another reboot.

He is returning to direct a Godzilla movie that is probably (but not yet confirmed) to be a sequel.

Edit: Ah, I see the date...
I unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and without a doubt hate Godzilla vs Kong.

Could you provide me a link to the date? Also, how would you react if it really was a sequel?
