Re: Gamera Rebirth (NEW GAMERA 2023)
Just to add on not saying it will be shows including anime have aired in different markets and caused enough boom that more seasons got produced later.
For all we know non kaiju fans could fall in love with this in the TV format in Japan.

What I'd like to know is, when is this anime TV series going to be released on home video in this country? I want to see it and I don't think that I could watch it any other way.

Probably never, since it's a Netflix show. Tons of Netflix movies and such have never seen any kind of release, I guess they don't wanna compete with themselves or something. But there are pretty solid looking bootleg DVD sets all over ebay, etc

You could also just...y'know...make a Netflix account. Pretty sure you can even get a free trial for it too. If you figured out how to make an account on here, you shouldn't have any issues with Netflix.

Re: Gamera Rebirth (NEW GAMERA 2023)
Did this show suck BECAUSE of the language and gore? To each their own, but I cannot agree that this show sucked at all. I prefer Godzilla to Gamera, I liked parts of S.P., hell I even loved the Monster Planet anime trilogy. Despite my clear favoritism towards Godzilla, Rebirth absolutely blew the prior 2 Godzilla anime projects out of the water.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:18 pm I don't care how it's justified or explained. Bear in mind that an estimated 22 million Americans do not have access to broadband Internet. Physical media would be their only legal option if they want to watch this show.UltramanGoji wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:37 pmYou could also just...y'know...make a Netflix account. Did you miss my comments about how viscerally godawful the animation was? I love animation very much, and I sure as hell aren't going to sit through something that's painful to even look it.cloverfan98 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 9:31 pmDid this show suck BECAUSE of the language and gore? The gore and language is unfortunate because it limits the audience but the visuals are what truly, truly suck dick about this show.

Re: Gamera Rebirth (NEW GAMERA 2023)
It's sad but true. The visuals are the #1 issue and are pretty hard to ignore - which is extra sad considering the kaiju stuff looks pretty much fine. Weird framerate, sure, but I don't mind that sort of thing. It's just like, if they couldn't do humans, why have humans at all? As I've posted before, animation is like, as visual as film can get, so for the majority of the front-and-center animation to be so lazy probably killed so many people's interest off the bat

Re: Gamera Rebirth (NEW GAMERA 2023)
Is it laziness or some other constraint? Not that it changes anything, but I’d be surprised if this was the intended way to release it for any of the production crew. Seems more likely to be the victim of the quality triangle than anything.

Re: Gamera Rebirth (NEW GAMERA 2023)
Your initial comment that I responded to had no mention of the animation in it. I love animation very much as well and while I understand not liking the series animation style, it worked fine for me. That's not to say that a different style wouldn't have worked or even been preferred, only that the chosen style wasn't enough to ruin the entire series for me.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 10:28 amDid you miss my comments about how viscerally godawful the animation was? Do you feel the same way about Stranger Things and It? Both practically revolve around gore and kids swearing.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 10:28 am The gore and language is unfortunate because it limits the audience but the visuals are what truly, truly suck dick about this show.

Re: Gamera Rebirth (NEW GAMERA 2023)
To be fair, Legion hates both Singular Point and the Monster Planet Trilogy, so saying Rebirth is better is not helping your case here.cloverfan98 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 9:31 pmDid this show suck BECAUSE of the language and gore? Actually, I never said I hate Singular Point. I've never even seen it. I have no desire to.
But the Polygon trilogy? Ooooooo, those suck.

Re: Gamera Rebirth (NEW GAMERA 2023)
I've never seen Stranger Things, so I can't directly compare, but the story had a Stand by Me vibe + supernatural gobbledygook, which is my internal definition of Stranger Things.miguelnuva wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:13 pmApples and oranges.LegendZilla wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 4:53 pmDo you feel the same way about Stranger Things and It? I think a lot of reviewers compared the shows as well, so there at least seems to be some common ground, even if it's not directly inspired by it.

The whole kaiju crew is ready for the NHK broadcast this week!

They've been hyping this up quite a bit on X, including an endorsement from Umi Shinonome.

She's gone from endorsing shoes to Gamera. Let's hope it increases the audience.

Apparently the director and motion capture (?!) artist are doing some kind of behind the scenes thing for the new airing. Hope it's recorded or posted online. Didn't realize there was mocap in this at all

It’s airing in an hour and a half here. Bummed that it’s so late (11:45PM). I’m super tired. Shoulda figured out a way to record this in advance.Mechagigan wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 9:59 pm Apparently the director and motion capture (?!) artist are doing some kind of behind the scenes thing for the new airing. Still, this should hint at who the demographic is. Never was intended for children.
