Marvel Comics' 2000s Brian Michael Bendis vibes are back with a Fin Fang Foom vengeance this June as the King of the Monsters confronts Earth's Mightiest Heroes (and more) in Godzilla vs. Avengers #1.
Written by David F. Walker (Planet of the Apes) with art by Georges Jeanty (Star Wars: Mace Windu), Godzilla vs. Avengers #1 will follow Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1, Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1, and Godzilla vs. X-Men #1 into comic shops for a confrontation with not only Jet Jaguar and the 2000s era Avengers, but Marvel's own mighty monster, Fin Fang Foom.
From Marvel's official description:
The original New Avengers return to face an unstoppable enemy – GODZILLA! In the aftermath of a massive battle between Godzilla, Fin Fang Foom, the Avengers and Jet Jaguar, S.H.I.E.L.D. tries to make sense of what went down – but everyone’s telling a different story! What really happened during that fateful clash? Find out when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes take on Earth’s Mightiest Kaiju!
"As a child, I was raised on Godzilla movies, and as an adult, the New Avengers was a beautiful reminder of why I love comics,” Walker shared. “The lineup of iconic characters in the New Avengers was a beautiful mix of quirky personalities and big adventures that kept me coming back every month. Bringing Godzilla and the New Avengers together for an epic showdown has allowed me to work with characters I have loved for a long time, in a way that I hope is as entertaining for fans to read as it was for me to write."
"There are few things in life that feel better than when you get to recreate your childhood passions as a ‘serious’ adult," Jeanty shared. "Drawing this one-shot allowed me to package two things I loved in my youth, Godzilla and the Avengers, and put it in a comic book! It has been a joy drawing these pages. I hope everyone who picks up this book will see all the love that went into it."

Presumably at least Ghidorah will. We'll see next week though.ShinGojiX98 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 1:31 am I wonder if Godzilla during those Crossovers would get some kind of new forms like be empowered by Gamma Radiations or Cosmic Power ?
I was thinking Mechag[]odzilla was the creation of Dr. Demonicus in the Hulk book from what previews I've seen ?ShinGojiX98 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 7:13 amYeah of course KG would get something. Perhaps we could see a new MechaGodzilla made by Ultron.
Can you say "GMK"? The white-eyed star of 2001's Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack is coming to the Marvel Universe for a fearsome fight with the God of Thunder this July 2 in Godzilla vs. Thor #1!
Written by longtime Thor scribe Jason Aaaron and illustrated by Aaron Kuder (Daredevil), Godzilla vs. Thor #1 serves as a concluding chapter in the Godzilla vs. Marvel series consisting of Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1, Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1, Godzilla vs. X-Men #1, and Godzilla vs. Avengers #1.
From Marvel:
The deadly group of assassins known as THE HAND have bestowed GODZILLA with the power of THE BEAST! KRA-KOOM!!! THOR must defend MIDGARD from GODZILLA — but at what cost?!
"There are almost as many toy kaiju in my office as there are Mjolnirs, which is really saying something, so it made sense for me to bring two of my favorite characters together for one titanic clash," Aaron shared. "Aaron Kuder and I are using the Godzilla from 'Giant Monsters All-Out Attack', one of the most brutal and powerful versions of the King of the Monsters, so expect a colossal battle that I think will rival some of the most epic, cosmic throwdowns I've ever written with the God of Thunder."
Check out the Godzilla vs. Thor #1 main cover by Kuder, Foil Variant Cover by Mark Bagley, King of the Monsters Variant Cover by Gavin Guidry, Monster Homage Variant Cover by Nick Bradshaw, and variant by Walter Simonson below.
LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 12:44 am Godzilla versus Fantastic Four was fun, but not particularly ambitious. While delivering the goods, it sort of felt like a set-up to the concept before introducing wilder and more ambitious plots. The issue is basically solely focused on the Fantastic Four before another monster shows up. Theres some neat moments, but it actually feels relatively restrained.
Some fun concepts though:Godzilla looked off in a lot of pages. Kind of like a derpier version of the 1962 incarnation. The rest of the art though looks fine, making me believe that a lot of comic book artists, who are used to drawing humans, might have great difficulty drawing Godzilla. It’s hard to put a pin on, but his spines feel generic.Spoiler:
Edit: just noticed how early in the issue Godzilla has generic spines, but later, has more defined and traditional spines. Strange.
Ghidorah looks wiry too, but I like the design more than how Godzilla is and feels like a more intentional stylish choice. The final page with Godzilla and Ghidorah is an insane visual, that’s both cool, visually confusing, and slightly hard to understand.
Solid first issue, excited to see more of these.
I thought that was strange too, but that+the white eyes gave it a crazed and unique look. Makes sense for a chaotic agent of destruction. The artist was consistent with that throughout the book, so it’s fine. However, it’s why I’m critical of Godzilla’s appearance a bit more.
That actually would make more sense.Godzilla18 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 2:37 am I know everyone is excited for it, including myself, that Godzilla and Hulk are finally gonna have a fight but I still think it's unorthodox that Spider-man gets to face Heisei Godzilla while Hulk get's Showa. If you ask me it should be the other way around.
