Fan-Made Kaiju Redesign Thread

Okay.... I like the tail, color scheme, and legs.

What I DON'T like is the non-existent arms, the weird headshape, and the tissue connecting the leg to the abdomen area? Which looks so... Eugh... Overall if he actually gets arms and that weird tissue is removed, this is a god tier Gorosaurus.

Agree for the most part but I struggle to understand what this "weird tissue" you're referring to is. You mean his hip?

Idk how to describe it, it's like... You see the knee area? You see how there's like a weird tissue connecting it to Gorosaurus's back? That's what I mean. Kinda makes it impossible for me to imagine that he can bend his legs at all

Ooh, okay, now I see. Yeah, that's really weird. Best guess is given the Skullcrawler influence, Spino tried making the knee also act as a shoulder. Considering how much thought had been put into the biology of previous Titan Wars designs and how good Spino is at drawing creature anatomy overall, I'm surprised they even thought of that as something that would work.

my only real complaint i'd level at it is the weird anatomy, especially how there's just next to no abdomen present, it just looks really strange to see a comparatively standard theropod just. not have any sort of gut. i really appreciate how spino renders and does such robust armor plating.

I don't like it.

I'm always hesitant to criticize other people's redesigns, as I know my own have their detractors.

But that is just terrible.

It looks more like the two legged lizard from King Kong 33 that inspired the Skull Crawlers than it does Gorosaurus. If it was that it would be pretty good.

...yeah, this just isn't Gezora. With the Gorosaurus design, I can at least understand the reasoning for mixing him with Skullcrawlers. This is just baffling. I mean, it's a completely different kind of cephalopod from what Gezora is supposed to be, his classic color scheme is so bleached out that it'd be a stretch to even call it similar, and it's not even like it's mixing together multiple kaiju like Titan Wars usually does. Like, who would it be? Scylla? Nothing about this makes sense.

eh the Gezora's neat. i like the idea of making 'em walk with the help of a large, ammonite-esque shell. makes alot more sense then it supporting the whole body weight vertically on tentacles.

i myself think they're pretty sick for what they are, all things considered. certainly more interesting then most "kaiju as weird animals" type spec evo takes.

I like em for the most part. Special shoutout to the MUTOs for having probably the craziest evolution of maybe any spec-evo creature I've ever seen WHILE still having a recognizable design.

i honestly adore how spino makes some kaiju into different individuals of the same species, as with Dorako, Gigan n whatnot. i do wish their gigan had a bit more cybernetics or some more differences to make it a bit more gigan-y, but considering it's context i think it works fine.
Pigmon being the baby form of destroyah is so absurd to the point i can't help but adore it.

I hate to be negative about any fan redesigns. So I'll just say...the ones of Godzilla that I do not care for much are the JP Trex inspired ones. When Matt Frank was doing his Godzilla Neo designs, you saw a lot of that. And a lot of artist piggybacked on that too. Godzilla having a lateral body design, or legs that look very much like a Raptor...just to me doesn't really fit a Japanese kaiju. Godzilla being digitigrade, and supporting his massive weight on his toes (rather than the entire foot), just doesn't look or feel right to me. In fact, I'm pretty sure people used the term of "raptorization" whenever someone would redesign a Toho kaiju with that type of design element to it on Deviantart back in the daty.
