The subtitles generally do a better job at describing the technobabble, there's some choices in the dub that are far less straightforward (if not outright counterintuitive) in explaining the topic at hand.

That is without even considering how reading something visually will probably help too. I also found myself willing to rewinding the show a lot more with subtitles if I didn't understand what was going on than with the dub.

On the wider topic, yes I'd recommend a rewatch.
Regardless of that not even Enjoe understands it, so is clear that it wasn't made for us to understand it either

Is that something he said, or an assertion you are making based on your experience with the work? Because I think there exists a solid enough throughline about what is going on. In a lot of ways, the "answers" (or their closest approximations) are far simpler than people expect them to be (which is itself a theme continually expressed throughout the show).

There's an added confusion that the show traces the individual characters understanding of what's going on, which means the developments are not always represented in a linear fashion (for example, it takes a few episodes for BB to understand what Mei has figured out regarding the functionality of archetype).

An argument can be made that the show takes these simpler concepts and arbitrarily presents them as more complicated than they are, although I'd argue the show does play around with these additional nuances in some intriguing ways, and that it operates as an interesting exploration of unfolding scientific knowledge, which often is obtuse and unclear until it isn't.

For the record, I consider the science in the show "second order" technobabble. I'd define first order technobabble as the classic Star Trek, "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow", which is complete and utter gibberish of scientific vernacular. I'd define second order technobabble as one step beyond this. The ultimate "science" of the show is still only speculative/pseudo-scientific/magical, but the language used to describe these fictional elements would be fitting should they exist.

Because of this, there is no great mathematical equation underlying Godzilla Singular Point, and Enjoe didn't research a thesis paper and build the show around it. But he plays with a speculative science concept (a hyper-dimensional molecule interacting with our world), and outlines the scientific paradigm shift in figuring out what's going on. One does not require advanced scientific knowledge or capabilities to understand the show, but familiarity with general scientific and mathematical concepts does help.

Finally, here is JettyJag's guide to understanding Godzilla: Singular Point

1. Watch the show subbed, and rewind sections that don't make sense

2. Do some research into concepts you might be unfamiliar with. These topics are not always covered in high schools, but can often be explained at a high school level of understanding. I would avoid sources that explain these concepts at a higher level because the show does not require that level of understanding, and it might make things more confusing than necessary.

3. Pay attention to how individual characters understand what's going on, and track how their individual understanding changes as they interact with each other and the world around them.

4. There are three main buzzwords that are crucial to understanding the show: Archetype, Singular Points, the Catastrophe. The meanings of these terms and their relationship is not clear at the beginning of the show, and changes as we explore them further (at times characters outright disagree on what they mean), but the show eventually finds a stable order between them.

Devilman Crybaby is getting a physical release from Netflix. Hope to God this means we get SP at some point.

Yes, and maybe even the Godzilla anime trilogy and GAMERA -Rebirth- as well.

Just this past week I got a DVD copy of Singular Point (yes I’m still that guy to buy DVDs). Did a quick test of it to make sure it works (language I choose is correct, subtitles I choose is correct, etc.), and it was solid. Happy to be able to own a physical copy of this show.

Yeah I'm more willing to buy DVDs when it comes to animation. Animation doesn't benefit from HD like live action does. Like I have all of DragonBall on DVD and really have no desire to re-buy it all on Blu-ray.

Good point. I mainly just do it because I’m stuck in my ways . That being said, I do have a Blu-Ray of the Hanna Barbera Godzilla (my beloved) which has some AI used for restoration/touch ups. Looks really freakin’ good with that honestly.

So is this show officially dead? We haven't heard news of a Season 2 in years

It took 5 years for Season 3 of One Punch Man to finally get a release date. Not to say that SP isn't dead, it very well could be, but some anime take years between seasons these days.

That's a very good point! My only contention is that S.P. isn't just an anime or manga property but an adjacent series to a multimedia franchise primarily focused on live action films. By that I mean that I think Toho would be more concerned about maintaining the popularity of Godzilla as a character, than on continuing a particular series. For example if Toho believed or found a way to announce a new Godzilla anime with some sort of attention grabbing aspect (a famous anime production studio producing it or a famous anime director being attached to it) I believe they would greenlight that over a second season of S.P. in a heartbeat. A new production may have more marketability than a 2nd series of S.P.

Watching Star Trek recently really makes me crave more SP. I liked the crazy science physics stuff in it a lot. I will wait at the train station for my beloved to return from the war until the papers come confirming my worst fears.
