Hey Toho Kingdom,
I just dropped an audiobook preview of my new novel Tall People on YouTube, and I think you all might dig it! It’s a speculative fiction story about Seiryu, a two-hundred-foot-tall lizard trying to figure out his life in New York City. He grew up on an island near Japan, but now he’s stuck in a quarter-life crisis—his job sucks, the city barely accommodates kaiju, and he’s torn between staying with his friends and girlfriend or leaving it all behind for a fresh start.
It’s got big monsters, existential dread, and some millennial satire—think Lost in Translation meets Shin Godzilla, but if the kaiju had relationship problems.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, check out the first three chapters on Youtube @authorevanwitmer.
Would love to hear what you all think! Also, what are some of your favorite stories where kaiju are more than just city-smashing forces of destruction?
