if the giant condor can make it, the oversized octopus can, too. I am a believer.

Yeah. Assuming Godzilla doesn’t miraculously become not popular (which won’t happen at this point), I assume everything other than something that doesn’t have copyright issues will be made. The only thing that would surprise me at this point is anything Zone Fighter related, or something like Dogora.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 3:19 pm I think most of that is happening within the next two years. Not sure about the octopus though. And I still don't think Kong is ever happening considering just how scared Toho is of copyright stuff.
The fun is speculating which figures will be bad, and which will be good.
Good:
Kumonga
Giant Octopus
DAM Manda: Minus being a bit short, it’ll be perfect, making you question wtf happened with the other figures.
Mothra Larva
Bad:
Mothra (1961/1964)
King Shisa: they’ll fuck up the paint and texture on its fur.

I'd totally be up for a 64B figure. I'm still very curious as to how they would've differentiated between '65 and '66 Godzilla!
Please refer to me as jiggy22 (or just jiggy!)

Re: Official Bandai (Japan) Thread 2.0
This is the logic I'm using right now. The resumed production after Shin Godzilla but has remained somewhat consistent since then, with high ebbs like 2023, but some form of new releases each year seem almost guaranteed, including multiple Godzilla Store exclusives, and though there's a bias towards Heisei and Millennium era stuff in general releases we've still seen Show stuff. The choices in the most recent poll (the actual poll itself, not the Giant Condor winning) and fact they are doing things like a Godzilla '98 immediately after Zilla, or doing Bagan and Super Godzilla, really suggests to me nothing is really off-limits to Bandai unless the limitations are from Toho/legal, and as they continue to get through more of the major Heisei/Millennium monsters as they've been doing, they will eventually probably start scraping the bottom of the barrel or doing new designs entirely (which I think is further off for anything they've reissued since 2017, but definitely not impossible) unless Godzilla becomes spectacularly unpopular.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 9:00 pmYeah. Sometimes predictions are wrong - there really was no big GvMG74 figure for the anniversary last year, definitely some small tributes but no shocker - and they'll have trouble finding anything for ToMG this year, I suspect - so none of this to say I think certain specific characters are definitely coming either, besides the fact Kumonga is becoming almost unavoidable, but if they keep this line going another say, five years - they'll probably eventually get through a good chunk of what's left to want.
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.

LSD-
I’ve been meaning to ask you since you live in Japan but where do they normally sell the Bandai Godzilla figures at? Obviously there’s Toys R Us, Yodabashi Camera and specialty shops but do they sell them at other major retail chains in Japan too?
If anything it’s going to expand like it is right now with the 3 upcoming sublines plus the Action Figure series

They’re not going to stop this line it’s been around for over 20 years plus it’s too popular. Plus there will be new movies still coming out.

As long as there's movies coming out, I agree. I assume the 2008-2016 dormancy had to do with the lack of films during that period (aside G2014) until Shin Godzilla's enormous success, but I also don't expect that to happen again with the Godzilla Store.Titanus_Rodan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:14 pmThey’re not going to stop this line it’s been around for over 20 years plus it’s too popular. I predict Bandai will eventually release the remaining 50th Memorial Box figures even if they might retool some of them in one form or another.
Those are in addition to the production of the other characters.

As long as they make a 60s rodan figure I’m happy. Also a manda 68 and a adult mothra 64 would be a dream come true as well

With the talk of being so close to more or less finishing off the Showa era, what’s everyone thinking about where King Caesar falls? He had a (really bad looking) 2003 MMS release which itself was a reprint from the 90s, and then the EX release in 2015, which I can’t quite place why but I’m definitely dubious of. It feels like of all the characters who have gotten an MMS figure, he’s gotta be up there in terms of being due for a re-release (or ideally, new mold), right?

Re: Official Bandai (Japan) Thread 2.0
I finally got my packages, including my Dream 5 box. All of the figures are pretty great, except for one. MechaG isn't too bad, but what were they thinking not at least letting you rotate his head? My Gabara is fantastic, very happy. Anguirus is just as I wanted. Kamacarus is a real winner- he looks even better in person! I think him and Anguirus win the set. But my King Ghidorah.. oh dude..
No one opened the box, it was sealed, shipped straight from the Godzilla Store immediately. My package was different than what I seen online, in that there was a big cross tape over the King Ghidorah package. Did others have that too? It was like they were trying to hold up the plastic packaging. Alas, the King Ghidorah was sitting flat. The left wing was especially warped, and get this: Two of the heads are literally sealed together. It looks like the plastic fused together. It could be the glue, but it looks like the plastic is fused together. The feet are also a bit warped. Ah man. If it wasn't for all the other figures in the Dream Box and the other figures I ordered (Little Godzilla, 94 Godzilla, Gemstone Megalon, etc.) I would have been so dissapointed.
But let me tell you: Little Godzilla and Gemstone Megalon? 10/10 MMS figures in my opinion. I love them so much.
Edit: I also think Anguirus and Kamacarus from the Dream Box are fantastic too. I wish Anguirus could rotate his head. Also in case anyone isn't aware: You can rotate the arms and head on Kamacarus. I knew you could the head, but I wasn't paying attention to the arms.

I'm thinking a new mold for sure. I suspect he'll be a Godzilla Store exclusive and have a fantastic sculpt (but the paint will be a bit lacking).biggest_dreamer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 2:42 pm With the talk of being so close to more or less finishing off the Showa era, what’s everyone thinking about where King Caesar falls? I like the BC/EX Ceasar but he's well due for a fresh update, neither MMS figure of him is all that perfect. I am kind of curious if they're gonna slow down on Showa stuff for a minute, though, with the DREAM 5 guys coming to retail sooner or later

Now that we've gotten Super Godzilla, I would really, really love to get a figure or two based on the NES game (the NECA one is...not great).

A repainted and retooled MosuGoji with a light blue base color, different colored squares all over the body, a larger middle row of dorsal fins and red eyes.Poe Ghostal wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:54 pm Now that we've gotten Super Godzilla, I would really, really love to get a figure or two based on the NES game (the NECA one is...not great).

Y'know they really ought to do a Third Street Godzilla. I'd instantly buy that. Seems like it'd be really fitting for some kind of exclusive
Edit: anybody seen these? Looks like new variants of the 5" US minus one. Weird, but I like the mount fuji looking blue one

That Sumi E and Mt Fuji Minus One listings got revealed I believe,
10$ Minus One vinyls from Bandai, Kaiju News Outlet on Twitter has them posted, one is a grey color scheme the other is a blue.

Bandai seems to be liking their 5" figures. I've seen a few of them at my local target. Solid figures for the price they're at.

Preorders appear to have closed again for SG. I had second thoughts about skipping him.
