Just in time for Halloween, I got the "Daiei Gothic" set from Radiance Films. It's a set of three traditional Japanese ghost movies from the '60s. Considering the studio I'd definitely say its Tokusatsu adjacent; Kojiro Hongo stars in one.

The Hammer Horror 8-Film Collection on Blu-ray. $12.99 from Amazon! I already have The Brides of Dracula, but even getting seven movies for that price is a steal.

I just received in the mail a booklet version of the large coloring book Monster Gallery which had in it, among other things, an alternate origin/first appearance of Godzilla.

I just got two films on DVD: Cat's Eye and Cat People (the second version) and one film on Blu-ray: The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (a Region Free UK version from a Blu-ray set named Indicator (it's #25), since it doesn't seem to be available in the U.S. in any form of home video anymore along with most of Ray Harryhausen's films from Columbia).

The Daiei Gothic 4K set from Radiance. Three highly regarded Japanese ghost movies made by Daiei in the 1960s: The Ghost of Yotsuta, Snow Woman, and The Bride From Hades. I haven't seen any of them yet, but I hear good things, and I've been very happy with some of the other quality horror/monster stuff Daiei was putting out at the time.

That's a solid choice! I get why you’d go for the 4K, especially if you’re trying to build up your physical media collection. I’ve heard Smile is pretty good, and if it managed to get a reaction from someone like Films At Home, that’s saying something. I haven’t picked it up yet, but I’ve been slowly expanding my horror collection too. I like supporting physical releases when I can, even though I’ve got streaming services for convenience.

I give this set my highest possible recommendation - and I haven't even finished it! Still need to watch The Snow Woman. Radiance has become a real heavy hitter among the boutique labels.

You want to get on that. I just finished it, and wow. It's worth the price of admission on its own.

The booklet that comes with the set looks great, too. Just flipping through a few pages, it seems full of solid info and context.

Today I just bought the Blu-ray of Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League. It'll go great with my Blu-ray of Batman Ninja.

Since these two films were made in Japan, are they considered anime?

Nabbed the 4K Minus One Watch Along edition. Kinda wish I got it before buying the standard 4K but I'm just glad to finally have a copy.

Picked up I saw the TV glow from A24's new line of blu rays. It's very derivative of Criterion's releases as far as packaging and presentation. The film is wonderful.
The aliens' idea to use humanity's trust was frightening. But have no fear, this is a tale of the far distant future. What? Why's that, you ask? Because we humans still don't trust each other enough for aliens to prey on us that way.

^ Haven't pulled the trigger on getting any of the A24 releases yet, but I've noticed they're trying to replicate that upscale Criterion feel. Think I'll get their release of Stop Making Sense...
