Except this time, due to the story being set even further in the past, they choose to stay on Lagos Island, beginning to appease him by offering fish. The implication is that these people form a civilization similar to Odo Island. If you want, you could even make it so that the bombs are never tested there, never mutating Godzillasaurus since both sides would wind up fighting someplace away from the natives.

Given that The Apothecary Diaries is a Toho anime, think a battle taking place in Imperial China where maybe Hedorah or some other toxic monster causes members of the royal court to fall ill and Maomao has to aid in the crises to heal them and evacuate the capital before the monsters tear it all down.

Think it would be a fun human plot on the side.
