I’m pretty fucking confused, I think they actually TURNED THE KAIJU INTO ZORDS.

And again, Godzilla did NOTHING this entire issue, the finale.

It’s fucking insane how far this fell from the first series, even with the rushed conclusion last time it was still a fun read. This was just ranger wank for the last two issues.

I’m tired boss.
Yeah, I was confused by that as well. Were the monsters trapped inside the Godzilla Zord thing? Was Godzilla supposed to be inside it all as well?

And like I predicted, the big Kaiju megazord gets actually very little focus or importance and is quickly discarded for the aforementioned Kaiju rush and zillions of other rangers.

All of this on top of the ongoing problem of confusing art. It’s a shame because I can tell the psycho ranges have really cool designs, and I wish it was more of a straightforward clash.

Hadn't read the original run, but saw the ending with glimpses into multiple Godzilla universes. Was nothing done with that at all?

Doesn’t seem like it

The kaiju being turned into zords really irks me. The appeal of the first one was seeing the zords and kaiju together, combining them and making the kaiju accessories to the rangers feels almost disrespectful

Nope, not really.

All the multiverse stuff amounts to is an excuse to jump around and escape+a page of tons of different power rangers from different universes appearing.

I’d be completely fine with it if the monsters appeared more in general, or even if the zoids did more things related to the monsters they’re based upon. Aside from the King Ceaser shield reflecting Ghidorah psycho rangers beam, nothing really feels inspired or related power wise to the monsters they’re based upon.

I guess it’s time to say something I’ve suspect; not really sure if the writer is that familiar with the godzilla series overall. That’s fine, not a moral judgement, there’s a few weird things that make me think that and might explain why the comic is so power rangers centric.

For example, there seems to be some weird implication that the Shobijin (who return for a rushed moment in the final issue) have some control or guardianship over not just Mothra, but many of the other monsters. King Ceaser is on all fours for the only panel we see him awake in the comic, and just in general a lot of things seem slightly off.

I also suspect this comic was originally different. It’s bizarre to me how Spacegodzilla hadn’t appeared at all in the entire series.

Bunn wrote the first crossover too, that’s why this is so odd

I think it's a case of too many good ideas, and forcing them all together rather than realizing less is more.

For example:
While I get that they wanted to keep some continuation between the comics, I don't even think Rita would have needed to be there. The focus is on the Psycho Rangers, so rather than bother with Rita or this "team-up" they could have saved a lot of time by eliminating her from the picture. Other than a brief encounter with Goldar, her monsters are never important to the story, and issue one.

I've typed out many concepts here and kept deleting them, but there's so many better and slimmed down routes this could have gone.

I'm not gonna get into my full thoughts just yet, but to clarify: They didn't turn the kaiju into the Zords (and then turn them back into kaiju), they teleported the kaiju in to join the fight. It was meant to be one big Destroy All Monsters rumble with Zords and kaiju fighting alongside each other, it just... ended like one page after it started.

...Actually, looking at it again, I don't think this is the case and now I'm not entirely sure what the hell is going on in this sequence.

You know, your audience not knowing what the fuck is going on is a sign of a great comic.
