Gemstone Goji Story thread.

Post by imposterzilla »

If he's grown heisei junior or not, both shorts are connected and official. How so do you in your headcannon play out the full tale? I'm thinking the Gigans and Rex were pawns of the lone Seatopian. Discuss your thoughts and possible future stuff.

If he is grown junior I bet all the old G Force weapons were decommissioned or destroyed by Gigan Miles.

Dang it, was expecting to see both videos in this thread. xD
Personally my head cannon is that he is indeed Junior grown up, since that's what the creator intends and it's just Toho that doesn't want to outright say it. Beyond that, I don't really have any other thoughts - the shorts while incredible fight scenes, are just fight scenes - not much story or plot shown to really get any good ideas, so I guess it's entirely up to interpretation.

After the shorts I wish Toho would trust this team to start making feature length animated films. Even if CGI it'd be many, many, many, many, many leagues better than the last anime trilogy. I know my avatar is from that anime, but that's because I liked the design. The plot was awful, as were the characters, and the fights...weren't fights, not really. The Gemstone team has earned my trust though, if given the opportunity I know they could make something actually fun and enjoyable to watch.
I unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and without a doubt hate Godzilla vs Kong.

I do like the gnarled design and Rex was just damn cool. Megalon was impressive as well.

I would like to see the characters of the vlogger and Seatopian female expanded on in the next one.

Who'd be in the next one? MechaGodzilla & King Shisa both have their upcoming 50th anniversaries this year

I hope once the Gemstone series is complete, it's strung into some sort of anthology style film. Like Animatrix or something.

They could bring back Spacegodzilla if they want to cement these shorts as part of the Heisei continuity.

Good point. I'd definitely prefer MechaG & King Shisa since I don't like SpaceG much but if they bring him back for this, I'd be more than fine

Probably MechaGodzilla as Shisa was an ally, unless they do both for a team up vs MG - but that feels a bit too optimistic for a short.

One could argue that if it is meant to be a continuation of the Heisei era then it probably shouldn't bring back the Heisei monsters. Cause that would contradict their deaths from the Heisei timeline. Junior needs to fight foes that either survived his father (only Mothra) or new ones big daddy G never fought.

^Who said it has to be the same SpaceG as before? They even said in the movie, another one is a possibility.

Fair enough, and I forgot that line.

I'm also interested in the Seatopian female, but I'm not sure how you'd fit her in another video now that Megalon is dead. I suppose you could resurrect both Gigan and Megalon so they can team up to fight Godzilla, but that's not as interesting imo compared to getting a new monster. You could argue we could get a new monster by bringing in Jet Jaguar to team up with Godzilla and even the fight, and that would make it more interesting. Still more interested in getting a different Showa kaiju reimagined in Gemstone's style, like Ebirah or Titanosaurus or even Hedorah (I know, I whine about his design often enough - but he'd make for a cool fight scene in these shorts' style, even I recognize that).

You know, now that I think about it "optimistic" was the wrong word - too "ambitious" for a short feels more correct. Of course that's a difference of little importance as far as our chances are to see such a team up. But still, it would indeed be fun to see. Especially as this Godzilla seems like the type who would readily team up with allies. It would be incredible if this all culminated in a Godzilla, King Shisa, and Jet Jaguar team up versus Gigan, Megalon, and Mechagodzilla team. Honestly that's a match up I didn't know I needed until now.
