Well that was really just in the U.S.
Like, why does he look like that? My guess is an early design.
Who else finds that poster eiree?
It's somewhere between goofy and terrifying.

What changes would you make to make it less goofy and more purely terrifying?

Maybe no pupils in his eyes? It would make him look more souless.

The head kind of look like the MV Rodan.
I've got a good mind to join a club and beat you over the head with it.

I was thinking that, but I thought it might be too GMKish. But yea that would do it for sure lol. Imagine seeing that flying towards you with that blank killing stare.

Hey, it kind of really does! :o Makes me think of the scene where he first breaks out of containment, he has a particularly piercing stare in that shot.

Anyone in the know hear of a potential Blu-ray release for this film? After they released the steel-book of Mothra a few years ago, I was hoping Rodan wouldn't be too far behind.

Criterion would be the one to put Rodan on bluray. And so far they haven't shown any interest.

I feel like the best chance for that to happen would've been in 2019. Unless Criterion surprises us....it's gonna be the waiting game for a while.

When MV Rodan was fresh on people's minds would have been a good time to do so, but I'm doubtful it will occur anytime soon.

Not so Fun Fact: The original Rodan Movie was based of the Mantell UFO incident In 1948 after a Pilot (Captain Thomas F. Mantell) was killed by crashing into what was alleged to be a UFO

Love this film and his appearance in GTTHM… his size is correct and his power level is portrayed as being in the same tier as Godzilla (where he belongs). Movies since then have done a disservice to Rodan.
At least Godzilla:Destroy all monsters melee (and other games of that series) got him right.

The effects and action dynamics of this film due to Rodan flying are all great. I wish toho would use Rodan again and give him a modern air combat scene

I feel MV Rodan gave us that modern air combat scene and did it well.

Technically he blacked out from lack of oxygen due to the altitude (or was shot down, maybe...), and then died in the crash. Either way, interesting note. I don't think I had heard before that Rodan was based on this incident, but the similarities are definitely there.

Agreed. The shot in my avatar is one of my favorites in the entire MV. 8-)

Rodan is super badass in this movie. It’s been a downward spiral ever since. In this film he’s got a presence that’s near the level of Godzilla in 1954. But something about Rodan’s design and the way he moves makes him a bit scarier to me than Godzilla.
