Rank the Ultraman Series!
Come up with a list of your favorite shows from the Ultra series! I finished the first show recently and thought it was quite good and I'm out for more, but I think this will be an interesting topic for discussion as well.
May as well add my own:
Ultraman - I was really amazed at how good it is. Towards the back half of middle it tailed off a bit but finished strong.
Ultraseven - Honestly guys, I had to stop watching this one. It was not near as interesting to me as the original series. I’ll come back to it someday; I’ll give Return a shot in the meantime.
Spreadsheet

Re: Rank the Ultraman Series!
My experience is limited so far, but:
Return of Ultraman (I'm about a third of the way in)
Ultraseven
Ultraman
I dunno... there are pros and cons to all of them. They're all pretty close.

Re: Rank the Ultraman Series!
I've only completely watched some of the new gen shows, so here's my ranking of the ones I've seen:
1: Ultraman Geed
2: Ultraman Z
3: Ultraman X
4: Ultraman Ginga S
5: Ultraman Orb (The 'Something Search Police' made it hard to watch)
6: Ultraman R/B (Aizen/Cereza and Horoboros saved this one from being last)
7: Ultraman Ginga (The sequel series Ginga S was done a whole lot better in my opinion)

Re: Rank the Ultraman Series!
Watched Trigger, except for Episode Z, but that's the movie, not the series. time to edit this list.
1: Ultraman Geed (Very good story, very well done)
2: Ultraman Z (Also very well done, just even with Juggler, not as good as Geed)
3: Ultraman X: (Same situation with Z, not as good as that damn masterpiece known as Geed)
4: Ultraman Ginga S: (A very big upgrade from the terrible Ginga, Chibull was a decent villain, but Dark lugiel being a boring villain killed the ending)
5: Ultraman Orb (The 'Something Search Police' made it hard to watch)
6: Ultraman Trigger (Inconsistent, Carmeara went from despising Trigger and wanting revenge to all of a sudden just wanting him back, but Dargon and Hudram were great)
7: Ultraman R/B (Aizen/Cereza and Horoboros saved this one from being last)
8: Ultraman Ginga (The sequel series Ginga S was done a whole lot better in my opinion)

Re: Rank the Ultraman Series!
Oh damn, this is impossible for me. For me a big appeal of the Ultraman is how the majority of series can function as their "own franchise" if that makes since. Yes most of them all have crossovers, but you can get really sucked into these different worlds and characters. I'll try to rank them in groups:
S-Tier: Z, Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Return, The Next, Ultraseven, and original Ultraman
A-Tier: Ace, Taro, Absolute Conspiracy, and Destined Crossroad
B-Tier: Decker, Netflix, Orb Origin (plus Orb Fight), Trigger
C-Tier: Great and Powered
S-Tier: Z, Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Return, The Next, Ultraseven, and original Ultraman
A-Tier: Ace, Taro, Absolute Conspiracy, and Destined Crossroad
B-Tier: Decker, Netflix, Orb Origin (plus Orb Fight), Trigger
C-Tier: Great and Powered

Re: Rank the Ultraman Series!
I'm working on a spreadsheet for this to catalogue a tierlist eventually. The word "Ultra" doesn't look real to me anymore
It seems like Return of Ultraman ranks high consistently, and so far I can see why. I'm about 10 episodes in and it's pretty damn solid. Tentatively my #1 ahead of Ultraman and Seven.

Here's my list of Showa Shows in order from best to worst:
Ultraman 80
Return of Ultraman
Ultraman
Ultraman Taro
Ultraman Ace
Ultra Q
Ultraman Leo
Ultraseven
Ultraman 80 takes the slight lead over Return of Ultraman for me and Ultraman or Taro could be interchangeable honestly. As for as Ultraseven, I just couldn't get into that show like I did the others.
Once I finsih the rest of the Ultra series I'm come back and do a list for Tiga on as well as do an overall ranking of the franchise.

Ultraman Nexus
Ultraman Cosmos
Neo Ultra Q
Ultraman Gaia
Return of Ultraman
Ultra Q
Ultraman Neos
Ultraseven
Taro
Ace
Leo
Ultraman
That's all the ones I've seen so far. All the Showa series after Return all end up feeling a little samey. At least Ace had the dual host gimmick going for it but it was abandoned too soon. Though the extreme contrivances to get both hosts alone to merge got a little ridiculous coupled with the unwieldy merging sequence I can understand partially why it was dropped (not to mention the backlash). Still it was at least something to make it stand out.

Re: Rank the Ultraman Series!
Thought I might share my own thoughts on which series I've seen is the best, separated by era.
Showa Era:
Ultraseven
Return of Ultraman (only 10 episodes in)
Ultraman
Heisei Era:
Gaia
Max
Mebius
Tiga
Dyna
Nexus
Mega Monster Battle Never Ending Odyssey
Zearth
Mega Monster Battle
Ultraseven X (trash tier imo)
NOTE: From Max to Tiga all are interchangeable with one another. Yep. Mainline Heisei Ultra shows are just that good and consistent imo. Dyna isn't because it's my least favourite of the bunch but no lower in quality.
New Generation Era (Ginga - Decker):
Z
Orb
X
Geed
Decker
Taiga
R/B
Ginga S
Trigger
Ginga
Orb Origin Saga (Also trash tier imo)
Showa Era:
Ultraseven
Return of Ultraman (only 10 episodes in)
Ultraman
Heisei Era:
Gaia
Max
Mebius
Tiga
Dyna
Nexus
Mega Monster Battle Never Ending Odyssey
Zearth

Ultraseven X (trash tier imo)
