It took a while for G2K to grow on me. I had the DVD as a teenager and watched it a lot, but mainly because it was one of the only G-movies I had ready access to. Had to get my fix somehow. I didn't have any particular attachment to it, and found a lot of aspects of it generic, ho-hum, or outright bad. I still do, come to that. But on the last two viewings, its stronger points really started to stand out to me (helped along by Eabaker and others here pointing them out), and I've come to appreciate it much more than I used to.

Hmm, interesting, well everyone has their own analysis and opinions on this matter, for me the millennium era of films is a hit or miss and a mixed bag for fans out there you either love them or hate them so here is my list.
  • 1. Godzilla 2000 love it(1999)
    2. Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah giant monsters all out attack aka GMK (2001) = Most profitable btw during its run.
    3. Godzilla Final Wars (2004) Most divisive amongst fans.
    4. Godzilla Tokyo SOS (2003) Meh at best.
    5. Godzilla against Mecha Godzilla (2002) Meh at best.
    6. Godzilla vs Megaguirus (2000) The worst of the series.

If I had to rank them, it would probably be:

Godzilla 2000
GMK
Godzilla x Mechagodzilla
Tokyo SOS
Godzilla vs Megaguirus
Final Wars

I don't really hate Final Wars. But it's one of the only Toho movies I struggle to get through. There's so much I just don't like about the approach they took with it. But it's still Godzilla, so every once in a while, when the stars align, I'll give it a watch.
