They've moved the release out of December(Fear Avatar!) and into April for Easter Weekend, basically the same window Sonic did so well with recently.

Smart move.

IDK, how much can really change in only four months time?

Anyway... Take this with a grain of salt, but apparently the plot has gotten leaked.

Teaser drops tonight and the poster is out. At the very least it looks like Mario.

Looks really interesting, flying islands remind me of Dragon Hunters, also nice to see some of the newer enemies (Biddybuds) in there. Art style looks a little strange (not bad!), as Mario looks like a stop-motion puppet

I've heard people say that Detective Pikachu, Sonic 1 & 2 and the Mario movie are part of a Smash Bros movie universe.

Or is this people just saying things because everything gets linked as a cinematic universe now?

I'm pretty sure they're joking, Jeff

Remember that Donkey Kong is supposed to show up in this.

Then again Donkey Kong is usually more connected to the Mario property than the others anyway.

I realize it was mostly just fan speculation.

Animation's great, Jack Black and Keegan Michael-Key are pretty good at their roles, but I'm definitely not getting used to literally just Chris Pratt Mario's voice any time soon.

I was honestly pretty skeptical of the voice cast (as most people where), but I'm glad there seems to be a good deal of actual voice acting, rather than "Bowser" as read by Jack Black. Obviously this is a limited sample size, and Mario is the least distinct of those shown, but color me surprised. The animation also looks a great deal better than most of illumination's previous works.

Looks good. One thing that I'm very happy about is how visually striking and colorful the animation is. I'm glad that we can already see that the film will explore a wide of mario biomes, and not just stick to grassy landscapes.

Also excited about the penguins! It's a little weird, but I'm glad they show the Penguins from SM64 as a race, and some power-star! I wonder if the film will be about Mario and Co. collecting Stars like the games. That would be fun!

New trailer today. Should hopefully hear more dialogue from most the major characters. Probably get a better idea of the direction Pratt is going with the role.

Trailer's out and honestly, Chris Pratt's Mario is kinda growing on me. Still wish they got Martinet back but as it is, he's pretty okay.

Pretty good! I like the art direction way more than I hoped. It's literally the Nintendo models with Hollywood budgets for the facial sculpting. Fire Peach is a pretty cool visual.

^I would've saved Donkey Kong for the sequel, but for now I'll remain cautiously optimistic.
