TV static hissed in the living room of millions. An old fashioned TV, far below the advancements the Cicada People have made for themselves sits awkwardly among the high-technological environment around it. It screeches as the father works the dials, although his family knows it's just a show he puts on for his children. Brief pictures flicker and snippets of audio from far away planets stutter as he fiddles with the dial more before tuning in to the right channel. They all know what time it is after all.

The children almost huddle around the TV screen, pulling their masks over their face and singing along to the theme song as it blares loudly in their home. The parents get on with their nightly routine, pulling the children closer and distributing snacks for the little ones and more adult meals for themselves. The father clicked his fingers and the lights died down, drowning them all in blackness save for the antiquated TV before them.

The music is loud and colorful, like their hero. Lights flash in rapid succession and shows clips of the hero defeating various nasty looking monsters before flashing the title of this episode: THE RED SHADOW.

The opening end and the children chorus out with the hero as the titles draw to a close: Reddo Fight!

----

Fog slowly creeped into a lone warrior’s domain. Peeling from the ground and rolling across the never-ending plains, a fog bank covers everything in an unnatural and unhappy grey. Two burning yellow eyes, followed by a bright red body pierce through the gloom as the lone warrior continued his endless walk across his domain. Even through the fog, the blood red Hunter’s Moon was hanging brightly in the sky.

The warrior was often alone in his thoughts as he was now and the fog only reminded him of the fog in his own mind. He kept walking, keeping his senses sharp for the monsters lurking in the gray shadows around him. The warrior had forgotten how long he had been walking in his domain, time hadn’t been important when he was fighting the monsters.

He had forgotten many things about himself if he paused for more than a moment to think. The warrior kept walking, away from the fact he couldn’t remember his name anymore, or how many monsters he had killed. He kept walking away from his memories.

The faintest sound in the distance made him stop dead in his tracks. His muscles tensed in a familiar way and his feet slid from underneath him into a fighting stance like a warm embrace. He listened. Soft, gasping breaths that were trying to be masked with the gentle winds. The soft crunch of dirt being stepped on. His hands curled into fists and the warrior felt his blood start boiling with a rage that he couldn’t seem to let go.

One thing the warrior hadn’t forgotten was that he hated kaiju, and would fight them with his dying breath. He didn’t know why he hated them, but long ago he accepted that hadn’t mattered. Waiting in silence, the fog swirled around him and soon a shadow began to appear hazily in front of him. He lashed out, barreling forward through the fog only for the shadow to quickly disappear with a throaty, mocking laugh.

The warrior whirled around, roundhouse kicking at empty air. The mocking laughter grew louder, two tiny beads of yellow light glittering evilly at him before they too disappeared into the swirling fog. Steadying his breath, the warrior had to contain his anger until he gave a sharp scream of pain as a hook-bladed tail lashed out from the fog and stabbed into his side with a sharp whistle of air.

He seethed in pain, holding out his hand and bellowing “REDDO KNIFE!” In a flash of light his trusty knife had formed in his hand. The tail yanked out of his side just as the warrior slashed down to try and cut the offending thing off, slinking back into the fog.

Checking his side, he held up his hand to see his blood dripping off of his palm. Forcing his hand into a fist he whirled around when the sharp whistle sounded and he brought his knife up, clashing against the stinger tail that had suddenly appeared from the fog. Colored deep red, the tail flicked up and whipped down, only for the warrior to parry the blow again with a quick flash of sparks. The warrior quickly pulled away as the tail whipped back into the fog, and silence fell across the domain once again.

Skittering could be heard all around him, the sound of feet bristling to get into a more advantageous position. The warrior knew he was at a severe disadvantage with the fog around him. He walked cautiously at first until the stinger tail whipped out with a sharp crack and stabbed into his arm. Screaming out in pain and rage, he lashed out with his knife, trying to cut the appendage again as the tail yanked out and blood spurted from his arm.

Dropping to his knee briefly, his knife disappeared in a flash of light before he held out his injured arm. “Reddo Arrow!” A giant spear flashed in his hand and he began twirling it between his hands, billowing some of the fog away from him so he could see more clearly.

A rattling gasp bellowed from somewhere in the fog, and before the warrior’s instincts could kick in a claw-shaped arc of energy slammed into his chest. It sent him flying backwards, landing hard on the cold ground beneath him. The warrior’s wrist twitched and his combat knife appeared in his other hand, holding his spear and knife cross-wise to block the incoming tail that swooped down and stabbed at his chest.

Struggling to get up, he grunted in alarm when a giant red claw reached down and dug into his leg. He cried out as he was soon dragged across the ground, still desperately fighting off the tail trying to stab at him before he was thrown with considerable force through the air, tumbling on the ground with a groan.

A mocking laugh echoed around him. He could sense the monster approaching him through the fog, and he cried out in agony as the tail stabbed into his back and lifted him up by the barb. He struggled, blood running down his side and dripping down his front as he heard the hideous breathing. Something loomed closer, just out of eyesight and whispered into his ear.

“Run.”

Anger surged through the warrior. In the fog of his memories came a flash of who he once was and with a struggling gasp he held his hands high into the air. “Reddo Fire!” Flames licked around his hands, and he hurled a burning hot fireball straight down onto the ground beneath them, bathing both him and his opponent in a wreath of fire. The creature shrieked in agony and dropped swiftly, who neatly rolled onto his knees and stood up swiftly.

The fireball had cleared the entire area of fog now. Charred grass and scorched earth marked the where the warrior had fired his attack and across from him was a skeletal, blood red kaiju who glared, hissing in frustration. His back towards the Hunter’s Moon, the warrior held his two weapons aloft in his traditional stance before thundering out the words that had pierced through his hazy mind.

“REDDO FIGHT!”

Redman cried out and charged at The Shadow stabbing at the creature’s abdomen with his spear before parrying his claws with his knife. He cried out, throwing the Red Knife at one of the Shadow’s spindly legs, the creature scuttling hastily to avoid the knife cutting it off completely.

The Shadow barreled forward, tackling Redman over and trying to stab him with sharp spear-like legs. Redman writhed underneath, kicking and punching at the underside of the Shadow. The Red Knife appearing in his hands again, Redman thrust upwards wildly and the creature shrieked when the blade struck home and pierced his skin.

Immediately the Shadow backed away in pain and Redman kipped up, charging forward and tackling the demon kaiju with a frightening cry of anger. The two tumbled, wrestling with each other as the Shadow tried to wrest the Red Knife from Redman’s blood-soaked hands. Redman grunted, lifting his foot and ramming it down on one of the Shadow’s legs, the whole thing breaking with a sharp crack and a scream of pain.

Its tail sprung out above its head, trying to strike down at Redman as the warrior grabbed it with both hands and struggled, grunting as the stinger got lower and lower towards one of his bright glowing eyes. The Shadow glared down at his opponent, who glared back and with a defiant yell kicked the Shadow off of him while still holding onto the tail.

With a flash of steel, the Red Knife appeared in his free hand and with a vicious swing the whole tail came off in a geyser of blood. The Shadow gave an agonized and deranged howl as it skittered into the thick fog, a trail of blood leaking behind it.

The scent hit Redman’s senses and now he was the hunter once more. Crouching low, Redman gripped the severed tail tightly and listened for the first time since the fight began. Ragged breathing, a limp on the cold ground. The fog swirled around him in blissful silence until something moved out of the corner of his eye.

With a mighty battle cry, Redman cracked the Shadow’s tail like a whip. It cut through the fog and struck home, stabbing into its former owner and causing another shriek of pain. Diving after the shadow, Redman tackled the beast to the ground and began grappling with it again. The unbroken legs began stabbing into him with frantic panic. Redman brandished his knife and started stabbing just as wildly, trying to butcher the unusual thing beneath him. He finally saw the creature’s face and saw its wide gaping maw. Screams could be heard, screams of all of the monsters Redman had killed in his short time on this strange planet. Redman stopped, staring in awe as the screams grew louder and the souls of the damned began pouring into the Shadow’s mouth.

Then it all came bursting out in a giant beam of energy. The pain and screams of countless kaiju overwhelmed his senses. He tried to scream and found his voice lost, backing away as the beam engulfed his body completely. Flashbacks of all of the kaiju he killed. The blood pouring over his hands, the screams of fear and mercy. In his mind’s eye, he seemed to register a small glitter of light off in the distance before everything went black. His body slumped to the ground, his eyes fading to unconsciousness.

As the Shadow breathed heavily, he grabbed Redman’s ankle and began dragging him away towards higher ground. Uncaring as Redman’s mind was thrown head over heels.

---

Where had he gone wrong? Redman sat in dark contemplation. He remembered his family and his people, his planet. Looking down at his hands, he saw them stained with the blood of…

He couldn’t remember anymore. He had been fighting for so long that he had stopped counting how many kaiju he killed. The never ending monsters, the countless battles. How was this planet still teeming with life when he had killed so many?

And when did he arrive? Redman tried to think, think back to his first time landing on this planet. Blurry memories tried to form into more refined shapes. A strange clicking sound. That glitter of light.

It was no good, something was trying to hold him back. A pressure in his mind that told him that he didn’t want the answers he sought. A deep fear he had never felt before, so what was he afraid of?

He could see them now. Blurry figures all around him, taking… taking photographs? The blinding flash of camera lights, the glitter of.

Yes. Of Cameras. He had never thought himself a celebrity though, so why would he be appearing in front of a camera. Why did that seem so familiar? Think Redman, Think.

They appeared in sharper focus, the people who were taking photographs of him. Strange, cicada-like people. He had never really seen them before but something told him that they were more intimately aware of each other than he realized. Cicada People, Cicada People. What did Cicada People do?

Cameras. Monsters. Cicada People. Photographs. He remembered now, the seething blood-thirsty anger when he first arrived on this planet. He hadn’t landed, he had been taken. He remembered his screams as electricity filled his mind and blurred the edges of memory into a hazy fog. The promise that kaiju would pay for crimes he knew they were innocent of.

It made sense now. A prisoner living the same days over and over, broadcast for the galaxy to see. How many times had he come to this realization? How many times had he tried to escape this living hell before being captured and tortured again?

What would he do to escape this time? Could he do this alone? No.

No he couldn’t. He knew that. It was time for the Red Fight to take on a whole new meaning.

It was time to wake up.

---

With a jolt, Redman suddenly became conscious again. Thoughts and emotions raged inside his head as the cold bite of wind hit his face. How long had he been unconscious? Minutes, hours? He was still alive, and felt his heart beating in his ears. He dared to look around his surroundings, and found himself on a cliff top overlooking the sea.

He heard the ragged, harsh breathing of The Shadow and saw how injured he looked. Perhaps that last attack took too much out of his opponent, or maybe it was the blood loss. Redman’s hands curled into fists, feeling rage begin to swell inside of him again. But this anger was directed not at the creature in front of him, but towards the real monsters. If he wanted to start the new Red Fight, the old one had to end.

Redman sprung up on his feet in an instant, giving a terrifying war cry and sprinting towards The Shadow. The creature’s yellow eyes widened in alarm as he was shoulder tackled by the charging man. Spindly red legs flailed around and he righted himself after skidding across the ground.

The Shadow hissed angrily, trying to lash out with his claws at Redman. Redman backflipped away, feeling more invigorated than he had been in decades. With a sharp cry, he held aloft his hand and instead of his trusty knife, his spear appeared in his hand with a flash.

Twirling it around briefly, he settled into a stance and charged the Shadow again. It backed away uneasily as Redman began stabbing the ground at its feet, forcing it back further. The sea breeze was getting stronger as the two fighters edged closer towards the cliff face. The Shadow looked behind him in alarm and back at Redman.

Redman caught a glint of light from the corner of his eye and with a mighty cry hurled his spear towards a hidden camera. It caught the device and pinned it to the ground in plain view for all to see now. In the same motion he turned and cartwheeled out of the way of a desperate claw wave from the Shadow.

It opened its mouth wide, and Redman could hear the screams of the damned again. The screams of those he had made suffer. Feeling determination and shame, he let it fuel his unending anger and sprinted forward, hoisting the creature into the air as it fired off another Soul Burn. Agony still washed over Redman, and he shouted out “REDDO FALL!” before throwing the creature down into the depths as hard as he could. A massive explosion rocked the cliff face as Redman kept his hands held high in victory.

Eventually, the dust settled and the smoke faded away. Redman breathed out harshly, but turned to where he had thrown his Red Spear and walked over with a new purpose. Grabbing the camera, he yanked it out of the hidden outlet it had been fastened to and made sure it was still recording. Walking back over to the cliff face, he looked out at his domain. The domain of hell and torture. He looked over at the camera, and uttered the new rallying cry for the Red Fight.

“REDDO FREEDOM! REDDO REVOLUTION!

He threw the camera as hard as he could, watching it splash harmlessly into the water. Turning, he set out to begin his revolution. Descending from the clifftops, he approached a cowering kaiju. Its name wasn’t important right now, he would learn them all in time. Instead of attacking, Redman held out his hand in friendship. The Kaiju stared at him with its deformed and maligned face. They stayed like that for a while, until eventually the monster clasped Redman’s hand. The Revolution had begun.

TV static hissed across the cosmos. Children were excited about the development and there were internet forums debating furiously about the latest plot thread of Redman. Only the masters of the program, sitting in their high offices and ships orbiting the planet, were worried. Only they knew the truth. Redman’s finale would begin as soon as they found the right monster to put him down for good.

I can’t tell—is this a parody match? Or is it just a KWCE Halloween Special, and #91 is a typo?

Spoiler:
So like, Redman's adventures is simultaneously real yet also televised without him knowing? That's kinda spooky ngl.

Neat fight! Nice to have a K.W.C and K.W.C.E back to back, and Red finally makes his debut!.. Well, his shadow did anyway. Also neat to see Redman not entirely be a murderous psycho

Ah, okay.

Either way, this was a good one. An extra grape on top of GvR’s chocolate fudge cake.
