Singapore has just announced their first kaiju movie, Circle Line. The movie features the survivors of a collapsed subway being terrorized by a giant reptilian creature.

^ Cool to see Singapore throw its hat into the ring, but this doesn't look like a full scale kaiju. The monster is partly visible in the poster, and it's human scale.

I think it's probably closer Gwoemul size range.

Meg 2 had its trailer debuted at CinemaCon and will include the infamous T.Rex scene from the books. Also Jason Statham wielding a sword on a jet ski.

Re: Giant Monster Movies in Development
The trailer description.
The trailer opens with two land-bound prehistoric monsters eating a large bug, with onscreen text warning that for 65 million years one species ruled the world. The T-rex? No, the Meg which eats a T-rex. Jason Statham is recruited again by Cliff Curtis to hunt another giant creature in the trench.
“But then, deep underwater, the team starts getting picked off by the biggest Meg anyone has ever seen. We then get various monsters attacking by land and by sea, with Statham almost getting eaten by a shark. We get more scenes of tourists almost getting eaten, and a tentacled creature eating a helicopter. The teaser ends with Statham leaping into the air on a jet ski to face off against a shark with a sword.”

Re: Giant Monster Movies in Development
The Meg 1 was okay. I watched it on a plane, and maybe it deserves a rewatch. Basically a well-done giant monster movie, but pretty barebones and lacking in some genre conventions. I wouldn't consider the Meg a kaiju if that descriptor makes sense. I guess I'm excited for the sequel though. Sounds like there will be more giant creatures.

Re: Giant Monster Movies in Development
Updated the list. Sorry for the downtime. I moved some of the "Pre-Production" films into the "Development Hell" list. I moved last year's films into the releases from last year section and added a handful of movies that hadn't been updated before, plus a bunch of Chinese releases.
Outside of say, Dungeons & Dragons, have we had any releases with giant monsters this year so far?

Okay, I updated the list on the first post--partially. There are probably a couple low-budget Japanese kaiju films and a slew of low-budget Chinese giant animal movies to include, too. I'll try to do that over the course of next week.

Re: Giant Monster Movies in Development
I've looked through this list again and as far as I can tell, one year's wrong.
One Million Years B.C. was released in 1966, not 1967.
And is it possible to please move rows C and D a little more to the right? Row C, especially, is blocking a lot of the text in row B. No one can read it.

Re: Giant Monster Movies in Development
Speaking of giant monster movies, here are trailers I'd like to see before Godzilla: Minus One this week:
Cloverfield 2
Universal's April untitled classic monster movie
Godzilla X Kong
Godzilla X Kong being the most likely, of course.
Imagine if the untitled Universal monster movie turns out to be a reboot of Tarantula! I'd be really excited.

A new "big budget" Norwegian monster movie Kraken is currently in development for a 2025 release.

Nice! It's cool to see Norway really getting into the giant monster market with this and Troll 2 on the way.
