More for fun and speculation than anything else. I'm wondering what category (or mach for mechs) monsters from other media would be ranked. We know in Pacific Rim the strongest Kaiju yet was the Mega Kaiju fusion. Composed of a category 5 and two category 4s, wouldn't that make the beast a Category 13?
My starting speculation on other giant monsters:
Godzilla 1962: Category 6
Current MV Godzilla: Category 17
Kong 62: Category 3
Mechagodzilla Heisei: Mach 20
Mechani-Kong: Mach 1
Shin Godzilla (Movie): Category 5
Shin Godzilla (EVA): Category 19
Godzilla Terrestris: Category 5
Anguirus Showa: Category 3
Baragon Showa: Category 1
Destoroyah Forms; Aggregate/Flying: Category 6. Final Form: Category 30
Gigan Showa: Category 4
Godzilla 1968: Category 18
Hedorah Showa: Category 8
Jet Jaguar Showa: Mach 2
King Caesar Showa: Category 3
King Ghidorah Showa: Category 18
Mechagodzilla 74: Mach 16
Megalon: Category 5
Mothra 61: Category 1
Rodan 56: Category 4
Spacegodzilla: Category 21
Godzilla 1999: Category 12
MV Creatures:
Scylla: Category 5 , Female MUTO: Category 4, Mechagodzilla: Mach 18.

Toho Kaiju are beyond the understanding of the category system.

Who knew Pacific Rim used the Mach system?
That being said, Toho Kaiju, or any other kaiju not from Pacific Rim, are not applicable to the category system. They don't have all the factors needed to properly be judged fully.

Pacific Rim’s category system is based off size, not power, unscaled Showa Godzilla would be like a category 2 despite being capable of literally hurling a Jaeger (and that’s even if we give Jaegers a weight that isn’t stupid like their official ones).

It's also based on blood toxicity, and other things. Stuff most Toho Kaiju don't have.GodzillavsRayquaza wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 10:02 pm Pacific Rim’s category system is based off size, not power, unscaled Showa Godzilla would be like a category 2 despite being capable of literally hurling a Jaeger (and that’s even if we give Jaegers a weight that isn’t stupid like their official ones).

A punch from Showa Godzilla would send a Jaeger flying.GodzillavsRayquaza wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 10:02 pm Pacific Rim’s category system is based off size, not power, unscaled Showa Godzilla would be like a category 2 despite being capable of literally hurling a Jaeger (and that’s even if we give Jaegers a weight that isn’t stupid like their official ones).

Did you mean to say Mark instead of Mach? Cause Jeagers have different Mark categories in pacific rim depending on what generation they belong to. Anyways, most Toho Kaiju from the Showa era would probably be in Category 1 or 2. Maybe 3 depending on how strong they are.

But it’s not about power. The Mid-High Showa Kaiju (think Goji, Hedorah, MG, Gigan, Megalon, KG, Titano, KC and Rodan) would dominate pretty much everything in the first movie and everything in the second bar the Mega Kaiju.Nagoda wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 12:29 am Did you mean to say Mark instead of Mach? If it was by power, showa kaiju would be at least Cat 3 (weak ones) and Cat 5+ for the stronger ones.

Eh, Showa Kamacuras would probably be in Cat one or two. They can fly and be sneaky sure, but then they tend to give up their advantage of being sneaky by screaming loudly and alerting their prey to their presence while either walking at them or flying over them. Plus it did take three of them over at least a day or two to break open Minilla’s egg by tapping it. I mean that literally cause the men see them sometime at noon finding the egg in a hill, then leave to have dinner, go to sleep, and later the next day they see the Kamacuras are still tapping away at the egg. Either that’s a really strong eggshell, or the Kamacuras we’re just lightly tapping the egg the entire day and night.
