...looks at positive response to last match...

...looks at list of matches in inventory...

Whelp... I've held it back long enough. Guess its finally going to happen. Remember, YOU ALL made me do this.

New match is out and Welcome to the KWC Showa Godzilla. Also a great choice for Showa Godzilla's opponent.

Anyways, we get to read a battle that was cut from the big screen.
Spoiler:
Frankenstein apparently won, despite being killed by Godzilla. But he did save peoples lives and sacrificed himself, so Frankenstein has this win.
Overall, match is great, banner is great and welcome Showa Godzilla

Spoiler:
IT'S SHOWA TIME BOIS

Pretty solid matchup! The fight itself was brutal and nice to read and the human plot was also nice, and it's just neat seeing Showa Godzilla appear. Plus, i'm guessing a sequel is in the works with Legendary Rodan showing up at the end.

Also, is this Frankenstein's last match? Just wondering because it does kinda have that grand finale vibe.

Spoiler:
Sad that Franky is gonna be retiring soon but at the very least he can still be used for the KWCE so there's that.

Even then I can understand the reason for this as we have the titans, Gaira, and Sanda.

Splendid match overall, loved the david vs. goliath aspect to the battle and felt both Kaiju came off well.
Spoiler:
Still am on the fence of Showa Godzilla's inclusion, but he made a good first impression. Even is losing in his debut is a bit of a disappointment I am happy Frankenstein got a "win" even in death for what could be his sendoff.

I will say this is not Frankenstein's final match. You can expect one to three more matches over the span of the next six months or so. He's getting retired, but its not quite time yet. :huge:

I see. Well then I am eager to see what else that Frankenstein has in store before his retirement. Least we got Showa Godzilla to fight it before then, that was a must.

And as much as I hate the concept of retirement, I can least see the justification here. Sanda is basically Frankenstein but with an added dimension as a "brother" to the more destructive Gaira. Between those Gargantua and the Titans and Kongs there is this crowding of hand-to-hand humanoid brawlers so I can least understand this say vs. the C-Rex.

It's good to see Frankenstein again. I'm glad that this matchup happened before Frank's retirement.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe this match was originally slated to be a KWCE; but when it was revealed to staff that Showa was going to get in (prior to posting the survey on the site), Bacon asked GvR to help clean it up and modify it for being a runner-up for Showa G in the KWC. Annnnd, well, here we are. ;) ...I think.

As the guy who had to overview the match, I found this one to be quite the treat! Serving as a sequel to the '65 film *and* an homage to the scrapped Frankenstein vs. Godzilla project, it makes me really happy to see this match up come to light before Franky's put into the retirement home. And I think the two writers did the fight much needed justice.
Spoiler:
Any match that can used severed limbs gets a plus in my book. The classic David vs. Goliath analogy is pretty apt, and Frankenstein taking the win is definitely a bold move, especially for that turned into Showa Godzilla's debut. The speed of Frank and the power of Godzilla are well-conveyed here, and I look forward to what's to come. ;)

Close, but not quite. It was originally intended to be a KWCE, that’s right, but I was an actual co-writer who contributed to this with the intent of it being a KWCE, and not just a clean up. There was no modification between what was going to be posted to the KWCE and what you all see, except for the ending.
Spoiler:
Original ending was Godzilla going to the Antarctic with the tease being Showa Gamera, but then this got ported to the KWC and the fact that Bacon lost steam on that idea, now we have the teaser present here.
And also, it was decided this would be Showa’s debut a fair bit after the survey dropped, don’t act like the KWC’s staff are more competent than they are

Anywho, glad people are loving this match, I am quite happy with it and I know FatBaconUnicorn is as well. Honored to be part of the debut match of probably the most anticipated KWC combatant of all time.

I have no idea who approved letting Showa Godzilla into the KWC, or what changed after all the years he wasn't allowed, but whoever you are, I love you. :Godzilla68: And the match was a good read too,
Spoiler:
even though he lost.

Is Showa Godzilla going through the same problems as MUTO Prime? I noticed his bio isn’t up yet.

331 isn't listed on Frank's bio either, so it might be a site wide problem.

I think Anthony had forgotten / didn't receive the stats for Showa Godzilla (which is strange, because I know I sent them to Greyshot). If it isn't updated in the next few days, I'll have GBG update it as soon as he's readily available. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Who here has seen the new KWC banner?

(Also, I see that a few users have these badass-looking “Team Showa” or “Team MonsterVerse” stamps on their profiles. Where does one find those, and how many are there?)

I believe those stamps are from the Godzilla design tournament thread in the general toho films thread.
