The chances of Godzilla vs Kong 2 are astronomically low at such a time. That being said the chances of Kong 2 are incredibly high. And I'm rooting for his return.

Kong 2 because there's still plenty of Hollow Earth to be explored while they figure out how to improve the Godzilla films if they actually care.

Obviously I'd prefer Godzilla 3, but Kong 2 seems like the obvious next place to go.

Preference wise? Godzilla 3. The Monsterverse seems to slowly be understanding how to balance their monster action with the human stuff, so seeing them give us a Godzilla movie that solves both those issues and lets us see how the world of Titans after KOTM has expanded would be sick. Plus, a new threat that could threaten Godzilla’s hierarchy in a Post-Serizawa world could be fun to see how Monarch handles it. Or maybe we follow new protagonists? Though I’d like to see some consistency in the movies, and development on the current cast to give them a stronger presence.

Realistically? Kong 2 makes more sense. He’s in a new world with characters that connect him more to the human side, and the Hollow Earth lore gives potential to new lore and rivals. What if he finds a tribe of Kongs still alive? What about the ancient temple built? There’s a ton of room to still expand Kong. So it’s best to take advantage while the hype is strong.

Kong was the primary focus of GvK and is getting a cartoon. That's a pretty big drought of MV Godzilla content so far. I would rather hear about a Godzilla 3 than even more Kong. I hope we hear about a cartoon sooner than later.

I agree. Or, at the very least, plan for Kong 2 and Godzilla 3 to come out almost back to back like the original plan for KOTM and GvK. So, like, Kong 2 in 2024 and Godzilla 3 in 2025.

EDIT: Or, I suppose, if they were to greenlight them and film them at about the same time, you could do something like one in Spring '24 and one in Fall '24.

In the wake of GvK, I expect Kong 2 to be in the works. GvK set up a boatload of possibilities with the Hollow Earth, and we may also see the return of characters like Brooks, Conrad, Weaver, etc. Not to mention they can expand on Kong's relationship with Jia, Hall and Lind.

Kong 2 makes the most sense. While Godzilla is every bit ingrained in pop culture--if not more--as Kong, the primate has an appeal to general audiences that no other kaiju can claim. Riding off the success of GvK and the direction they can take with Kong finding his new home in HE, there is a lot to explore in the next MV installment with Kong.

Godzilla 3 should come after. I say that as a lifelong member of Team Godzilla.

Also, I'm not interested in another GvK. Godzilla is the clear victor (and rightly so); there's nothing left to explore there imo.
