Monsterverse Skull Island anime series

A ‘SKULL ISLAND’ anime series is in the works at Netflix.

The series is set in Legendary’s MonsterVerse and follows shipwrecked characters who try to survive the most dangerous place on Earth.

Going by the fact that we’re now getting an anime, it seems clear that Legendary still has plans for the Monsterverse. While I’d prefer a Godzilla series, we’re already plenty spoiled with content, AND we got Singular Point coming out. So hey.

They couldn't have picked a better plot, give me a horror anime Far Cry on Skull Island ANY day.

I expect ALL of the Megafauna from the Skull Island concept books and more.

Castlevania and some greek mythology anime on Netflix. Much better quality than like, Polygon in terms of animation.

Truthfully though. This is awesome. I’d much rather see a series set on Skull Island and by the company that did Castlevania no less.

I don’t know if this means we will get more films...but it’s great news either way. Four movies and an anime series isn’t a bad run at all.

Seems odd though that WB has their own streaming service but Legendary went another route. I just don’t want there to be bad blood between WB and LP going forward. Hopefully Legendary talked to WB at least about it in some capacity.

If you look at the back of any Kong Skull Island merchandise it says "Kong Skull Island and all related characters and elements are copyrighted by WB". I don't understand how LP can have a Skull Island show (on a rival streaming service to HBO MAX) without WB 's involvement.

This is quite a wonderful surprise. While I still wish we can get a Monarch series this is honestly the next best thing since it expands more of the Monsterverse as a whole. Not to mention it's about time Kong got his own anime series in some way.

Going by the fact that the Toho contract expires with GVK, I imagine they greenlighted the Kong show because they're still looking to negotiate an extension with Toho, so Godzilla was "unavailable" to them at that time.

Wasnt the 1960s series anime? I'm pretty sure Toei did the animation.

I think Toho will negotiate another contract, the positives far outweigh the negatives. Plus I'm pretty sure they've been adoring all the love put into these new films.

Awesome news I loved what they did with Blood of Zeus as far as the animation is concerned and I'm always up for anything new involving Kong and an expansion of the Monsterverse no less so I'm happy and maybe another Godzilla based show isn't far behind but great news indeed and I think it was take place before K:SI before there was an abandoned ship during the final battle so it may be about that ship and whatever happened to it's crew.
