Again, same spot on his leg that's sticking out. His calve area. It's very smooth and the details aren't there, it's the same model used on the KOTM posters I think.ultrazilla wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 2:57 amYeah so now that we have the super high res underwater poster, tell me where exactly Godzilla's leg looks low poly? It's as consistent as rest of its body really, they only applied some motion blur which should further smooth out any edges. That poster is well and truly high poly/fidelity render alright.KingKong2005 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 11:45 amYou missed the part where I brought up the underwater poster.ultrazilla wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 5:18 am WTF? There's absolutely nothing low poly about those new posters, do you even know what low poly means? Can you actually pinpoint any visible polygonal edges? The sheer density of triangle count here is insane as to be expected from a high end CGI render. I'm pretty sure they also used high quality tessellation on all the scoots, bumps, scales and what not for extra density. The lighting (Path tracing), shading and shadow used here are absolutely precise as each tiny surface bumps would cast self shadow due to a physically correct lighting model. As a 3d graphics enthusiast I think I know what I'm talking about.
Here's a comparison between a high end render to a low cheaply made render
High end render from GvK promotion
Cheap render from Kotm promotion
There's a world of difference in lighting precision, shadow quality, geometry density, shaders and composition.
"Agreed. Sometimes the models look good, but very rarely. They seem a bit low poly (Godzilla's leg in the underwater poster for example)."
The chinese posters have been starting to use the higher poly models which are way better looking, with much better lighting and shadows. I wasn't referring to the composition of each poster, rather the actual quality of the models and the high poly counts (lighting is involved in that, you're right. If it's blatantly lighting the surface it will look like there is no detail, so this is why lighting needs to be set up carefully to highlight all the little details).
Also, this new Kong poster is literally just using a still of the 2017 Kong rather than the 2021 Kong.

Re: Godzilla vs Kong PHOTO THREAD
It's because motion blur is applied to it so it gives you the impression that it's moving, when you blur an object obviously it becomes smoothed out and minule details will be lost, certainly not due to a low poly model. It absolutely would make no sense to use super high poly body but having only the calve to be low poly for a still render.KingKong2005 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 10:17 amAgain, same spot on his leg that's sticking out. So Kong is 336 ft and Godzilla remains 393 ft. Would love a translation for the rest

Why does Godzilla look like he's constipated on a toilet

OK so on Kong's data book, it mentions Kong's punching strength has a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter magnitude scale. So basically it's about 7-8 tons of TNT exploding upon impact, you'll get an idea of the power from this video at 2:24

Is this the IMAX poster WB has been on a takedown rampage against? Either way it is pretty damn awesome.

Nah, it was the poster with Godzilla Kong roaring from top of the poster to the bottom. This poster above however, is probably my favorite of the bunch. 2014 vibes from it

Wait, what's going on with the IMAX poster? Why is WB getting it pulled?

Re: Godzilla vs Kong PHOTO THREAD
I think the pull chat is about, earlier today, WB/Legendary/GvK social media accounts posted the IMAX poster from yesterday but it was an IGN version that said IGN on it and was like a thinner version cropping off from the sides. Shortly after posting, the posts were taken down and then replaced with new posts using the more square shaped version that swept the web yesterday.
That’s what I saw happening, not sure if anything else happened.

Very nice, love the shot of Godzilla in the water, such a beautiful creature.
