The LP Godzilla film is going to end up being a very, very different film entirely than any Japanese made Godzilla. Just because someone might enjoy it (whenever it eventually comes out) doesn't mean they're going to automatically start to love the Toho version. Look how many shitheads like the '98 film and attack the Japanese films in favor of it.
This.
Y'know, i'm half surprised a Zilla fanboy hasn't pissed on Honda's grave yet they love this "Real Godzilla."
I still don't have hopes for the movie being a box office boom like some people here like to believe.
I'll go see it, and hope they'll do more movies with Big G, but i really really doubt it.

And so we expect that people would stop calling Gamera a "Godzilla rip-off" with that?

When you compare the two, thye look nothing alike.
When you compare Gamera and Godzilla they're giant reptilians that shoot fire and fight other monsters. Both started out as bad guys but later became saviors of the world.
Both got reboots.

I took it in April in Burbank, California
You got to meet Nakajima? Damn, I'm jealous.
So I guess this confirms that his opinion of the American film is negative? I always wanted to hear more of what the Toho crew thought of the American Godzilla.

I like how that article ignores the fact Bob Kane admitted LONG ago, Zorro was an inspiration for Batman.

- new releases of Godzilla DVD's
- new Godzilla books or releases of old Godzilla books
- more Godzilla comics from IDW
- new Godzilla toys from Bandai
- new Godzilla sex toys
- new Godzilla video games
- new Godzilla documentaries
- new Godzilla fast food items

The usual stuff that successful franchises have
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.

Depends on the writer of the article. I don't think most of their articles are funny, but I do think they are entertaining/enlightening reads. Hell, they even have an article on Godzilla

What's he think of the Millennium series?

I didn't ask. I remember he said when he saw G54, he didn't know what to think of it and Toho told him and others not to tell people how the effects were done. Fooled people into thinking it was real or something
Kind of like when The Lost World came out, people thought they were real dinosaurs.

You guys... there's a difference between a being ripoff and being derivative. Pretty much every character or story is derivative in some way or another. This true with mythology, religious texts... even Shakespeare.... even Jesus Christ.

Doyle is responsible for the first rick roll.

Errr...., Doyle wrote the novel the 1925 film was based on. Marion Fairfax wrote the screenplay, but more importantly, it was Willis O'Brien's stop motion animation that wowed everyone.

When the film was made, Doyle went around and showed unsuspecting people footage of the dinosaurs and tricked them into thinking they were watching footage of actual dinosaurs. He did it to hype the film.
Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less. Great things are going to happen in your life. Great things. And with that will come great responsibility.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. He showed O'Brien's test reel to the Society of American Magicians at a meeting. He didn't make a claim one way or the other, and it was The New York Times that made a fuss, if you can call it that.

Hypothetically speaking..

If this film where to bomb, would it mean the end of Godzilla in the US? GINO already delivered a crippling hit to the franchise, if this bombs will it be the killing blow?
