When you come think of it, this version of Godzilla is Ghost Godzilla realized.

I see no resemblance.

GMK Godzilla is literally a spirit of vengeance, with origins tying to the 54 Godzilla much like Ghost Godzilla was. They have a few similarities with the only major differences being GMK Godzilla is ghosts of victims of WW2 vs. a literal ghost of Godzilla, and the lack of possession due to having a physical body.

This design has really been growing on me in recent months. I don't know what it is. But every time I look at it, I think this is a near perfect Godzilla design.

The bolded section is more than just a "major difference;' it's a fundamental difference.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

The only millennium suit that can rival BioGoji and MosuGoji.

Someone around here told me that this version of Godzilla is not technically acting on his free will. Could've he hearing been hearing voices in his head constantly giving him orders to kill and destroy, putting him in a constant state of terror and agitation?

This Godzilla is being controlled by spirits and being used as a weapon. Think of it like a remote-control drone, but with angry ghosts pushing the buttons.
The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made.

The strength of the vampire is that people will not believe in him.

But my question is whether or not Godzilla himself was actually conscious while they were ordering him around.

Nope. The tortured spirits were the only ones in control.

A victim being controlled by victims.

The destroyer. No Godzilla since ‘54 has been this blatant in what it is. Quite interesting, imo.

I really appreciate this design. Ironically one of the most "alive" looking suits in the series. It's tied with MireGoji as my favorite Millennium design.

Here’s another theory : What if… Dr Serizawa’s soul willingly joined up with the lost WWII souls that possessed Godzilla? They would’ve been just as if not more miserable than him so he felt obliged to be with the crowd.

He couldn't have; it would be out of character. Dr. Serizawa was a pacifist, and he literally committed suicide in killing the original Godzilla to ensure the world could become a better place.

No, that's out of character.

Best Godzilla of the M-series, a happy medium between the original and some Kaneko flavour. LOVE the ghostly eyes, the corpulent form -- it's the deadite Godzilla and it's gonna exterminate!
