Mill Creek releasing ULTRA SERIES on Bluray!!

Post by goji1986 »

http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2019 ... h-america/
Mill Creek Entertainment’s debut releases from this deal will be limited edition SteelBook® complete series releases of ULTRA Q (ウルトラQ, Urutora Q, 1966) and ULTRAMAN (ウルトラマン 空想特撮シリーズ, Urutoraman Kūsō Tokusatsu Shirīzu, 1966-67) on Blu-ray on October 15, 2019 for $49.98 each.

Complete series Blu-ray releases in standard packaging will also be made available at the same time for $39.98 each. Each release will contain stunning high definition video with DTS-HD Master Audio of the original Japanese soundtrack with English subtitles. Digital redemption will also be available via Mill Creek Entertainment’s streaming service, movieSPREE.
This is fantastic. Tsuburaya has done the heavy work of restoring the shows, and Mill Creek's price point is very friendly to consumers. Definitely gonna start collecting these!

Finally! Hopefully we can move past Ultraseven and get the rest of the Showa Ultra shows as well. Maybe even past that and get stuff beyond that!

They say in the article they're planning on releasing EVERYTHING. All 20+ films and 1000+ episodes.

This is amazing news!

Although it makes me feel like a sucker for buying bootlegs of Return of Ultraman just a few months ago... :(

Ah this is great news! And I'll be able to take part in the sales to hopefully give Mill Creek/Tsubaraya incentive to get more series released. :D

You could not have asked for a better reason behind for the Crunchyroll fallout. I just hope that, at the very least, their subbing work transfers over to these releases. And that TsuPro’s translations get a grammatical quality boost.

Although it is suspicious that they didn’t note an English dub for Ultraman ‘66, since Tsuburaya owns the masters.

I am in awe right now because I never thought I'd actually see it happen.

Now the question is, do I get the steel book or the regular set?????

Hopefully it doesn't take long for Seven to come out.

And, hopefully, we'll even get the missing UltraSeven episode "From Another Planet with Love" in its original Japanese version with optional English subtitles at last!

Hey, as I said before, if you've got to dream, dream big! No...dream gigantic! Or should I say Gigan-tic?

I wonder if Ultra Q will be from the 4k remasters NHK 4K has been running? As long as the colorized versions are left off, it should be fine.

Wow, I didn't even know that Ultra Q had been colorized!

I agree that those versions should not be on here. Shows like this one were made for the shadowy world of black-and-white.

Finally I can start catching up on the series. Funny the Ultra Q bluray will probably end up being cheaper than the DVDs.

I mean, as an option, I don't mind it's presence (Which is how it was on the Japanese release), even if I'd never pick it over the original B&W version either.

All I can say is wow! They say they have the rights to everything... but keep buying the releases guys. If sales start lagging they’ll probably pull the plug on physical releases and only do streaming.
