I enjoy the series but I hope people don't go into it thinking it's going to be actual kaiju. The manga uses kaiju more as a power system then actual big monsters.

I detected a certain amount of Shin Godzilla influence (Shinfluence?) with that lizard kaiju swimming through the canal. That movie continues to shape the Renaissance.
