For those curious about how much emphasis Toho puts on marketing and licensing, take a look at the back over of the new Waxworks King Kong Escapes album. The licensing manager, creative manager and branding consultant are among the very small handful of people who get credited.

How often do you see people on the branding and licensing side get credited on products?

Regardless of how this panel goes, I hope Toho pulls out all of the stops for the 70th anniversary. In Japan and America I would love as much attention, hype, promotion, discussion, appreciation and etc of Godzilla. I'd love for the whole year to be an endless cycle of reflecting and appreciating the franchise up to that point and embracing what is to come. I hope that a huge merchandise push would be the tip of the iceberg.

Man, just imagine what would happen if Toho realized how much Disney/Marvel made with the ideas of Spider-man multiverses and came up with the idea of capitalizing on both successes of the MonsterVerse and the Shin-verse and decided to pit MonsterVerse Godzilla against Shin Godzilla.

An American convention would be a weird place to announce a Japanese film, but that's just me.

It absolutely is weird but I never would have believed a brand spanking new 4K remaster of Gojira would begin in America before Japan so anything is possible.

Yeah next year they are going to focus on Megalon and Jet Jaguar. But we already kinda knew that.
